Pulled Hammy

I've got a grade 1 strained hamstring. From what I've read, I should rest it for three weeks before running again. Has anyone had this before, and if so, how long did you rest it before running again? I'd really like to get back to running sooner than three weeks. If I do need to wait the full three weeks, can I bike in the meantime? Thanks.
