leg pain not going away... suggestions???

A while back I experienced some pain along the back of my right leg. This pain was worse when I sat down for long periods of time. I have no idea what caused it. My wife says its the result of running too far. (Whatever) I did what the concessus on leg pain is on this web site. I rested. I haven't run in about a month. (Minus one instance that was work related). The pain still has not gone away. I recently drove for over two hours and the pain was still there. Today I tried a 3 mile run at a markedly slower pace (10 min. mile). During that run I experienced a slight pull in the back of that leg again. Should I rest some more or is there another fix that I should look into? I am dying to be running on a regular basis again... and my waistline is starting to show my lack of activity. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
