Hives after exercise!

Hi all-
So I know this isn't really running specific, but recently I've noticed small red hives on my abdomen/sides of my waist after a tough workout. They don't really itch (maybe slightly!) and are usually gone by the time I get out of the shower afterwards. I've found some info about "Exercise-Induced Urticaria" online and for the most part it sounds like it's not a big deal (I have allergies in general!). Do any of you folks have experience with this?

I'm a little weirded out because I found some info that said that while hives are often caused by nothing bad, they sometimes can be a symptom of certain cancers! Eek! (Mild hypochondriac here!)

Thanks for all responses in advance!

I have gone through phases where I have experienced this except I would get giant pin-wheel hives on the flanks of my back. I talked to the doc about it and he prescribed allegra for it...said it was not that uncommon. Since then, Claritin Hives has come out and I usually pop one of those before a long run. Sometimes I am more sensitive in either cold or hot.

Hope this helps!

I get hives after I run. In my case, I get hives just about any time there's "something" on my skin. So, while running, the salt in my sweat irritates my skin and I get hives. I also get them in the shower, from certain detergents, soaps, lotions, and just about any time I get into a lake or ocean, hard water will do it too.

Most of the time, the hives go away within 30 minutes after a shower.
