Running in a brace

I just got back from seeing the Dr. for knee pain I have been having. He thinks it is just a strain on one of the lateral ligaments in my knee and prescribed a Soffe Sport Lateral Knee Stabilizer.

Looks like I am going to have to wait till tomorrow to actually get a look at the brace. However, the doc says I should be able to keep running once I get the brace.

Does anyone have any experience running in one of these braces?

I tore my medial collateral ligament playing soccer. After being immobilized for weeks and going through a few months of PT, I started running again, with a soft brace. No problem. I know quite a few people from soccer who run and play soccer post acl injury with all kinds of knee braces, from custom-made mostly metal contraptions to simpler devices.

It is really unusual to damage a ligament without some kind of traumatic injury... that is you would have noticed it because you fell, collided with something, etc. and it hurts like he!!. There are so many possible causes of knee pain on the inner knee. The "cure" is similar for many: strengthen the muscles that support the knee, your quads, in particular the vastus medialis. Ice frequently. A brace won't help much, if at all.
