bruised heel

anyone have any info on these. I went to Dr. today and was diagnosed with a bruised heel. She said there is a possible stress fracture but she doesnt think so. She wants me to take 4 or 5 days off then start of slowly. I am training for a september 29 marathon. Any idea how I can get through this?

Re: bruised heel
More info needed on the injury. This is hardly an exact science - even for doctors. How long have you had this? Are you a heel striker?

Re: bruised heel
I had a heel injury two years ago. It was described as a stress injury to my heel bone. It set me back a bit. First, it was misdiagnosed as PF. Then I was placed in a boot for three weeks. I earnestly tried to train for a marathon, running on grass and trails, but in the end it proved to be too much. I ended up in PT because of ankle strain after I was prescribed othotics. I also ended up scaling back that year, and only doing one leg of a relay in a marathon. The next year I bounced back and did three. Sorry I can't give you real good news, but everyone?s experience may be different.
