Hi all, Finally have some time this morning to sit on the computer. Got caught up with the latest posts and a chance to reply. Yesterday I ran 5 miles in the COLD... it was 38 but colder with the wind. I was doing fine for the first half and then turned around to head back & the wind was against me. The wind cut right through my thin pants and my legs were numb from the hips to the knees, had to keep stopping and rubbing my legs so that I could feel them again. Everything else felt fine except for my face which was freezing too. I enjoyed being out in the cold... too bad it's heating up again already, only a low of 55 tonight. Oh yeah... don't know if I shared this but I ran 12.1 miles on Saturday! my longest run EVER! 24 days till my HM! http://community.active.com/images/emoticons/grin.gif

I have been staying OP now for 3 weeks but starting to struggle since this past weekend. I know it's stress related, my DH found out that they are laying him off next month from his job & he's desperately trying to find a new job. It's so hard with the housing & construction slowing down around here (he's a civil engineer) because companies are laying off everywhere. So keep us in your thoughts & prayers that he finds a new job asap. It's also been a rough month of deaths in the family & for friends, my SIL lost her mother, my best friend lost hers this weekend, my Dad's good friend died a few weeks ago and my friend's husband's mother passed away this past week. That along with the first Christmas after my uncle died last February and it's been tough on me & my family. I had a good breakdown yesterday in the car when a Beach Boys Christmas song came on the radio (my uncle Mike LOVED the Beach Boys) and it just felt good to get a good cry out. Anyway, didn't mean to unload all that info but sometimes it just feels good to share. So, I am trying real hard not to use stress as an excuse to eat whatever I want & I'm really doing my best to stay OP.

Happy - where in FL will you be staying for Christmas next year? glad you like my user name, it's one I use on most sites but for some reason when signing up with CR I used my real name. Active already had my name as GatorGirl & then I had to add a number because someone else already has my name... I just picked my birth year, use to use my birthdate "17" but that makes me sound like a teenager. LOL

Dan - your family is my thoughts & prayers. I'm glad you are taking time to take care of yourself.

Bo - I knew you'd find my 45 degree weather laughable. It was actually about 38 degrees with a wind chill colder than that... it's hard to go from 68 one morning to 38 the next though! congrats on the 1.6 lb loss!! woo-hoo! the good thing with the training log is that I didn't lose any info, I exported it all before CR went to Active. I wasn't about to lose all my info! I just don't care for the new log features... but I think I like the new board layout. Need to play around some more & find my way around.

lifentheparks - congrats on your 25 min run... you are moving right along! it's ok to stalk Bodacious, I do it too because she is such a great inspiration!

silly7737 - I'm not too happy with the new training log either. I've decided to use one from a different site, maybe Runners World or one of the other ones out there, just google "running training log" and you'll find a ton of sites. Or find one of the gripe sessions on this new board, lots of people recommending other training log sites.

AEK - congrats on signing up for your first HM!

rogue - glad you got to the doctor and how cool that he is a runner. glad you are getting PF taken care of. I thought I had that a few months ago but turned out to be plantar fascia strain instead, it's finally better but every once in awhile it gives me a good twinge to remind me to take it easy

Hope everyone has a good day, I'm off to figure out this site & find a training log. Melanie

Morning All....Well I was up bright and early this morning as I have to get my bags packed and head to Zion for the night then Las Vegas tomorrow to catch a plane to Mississippi for the holidays. I will be staying at my grandparents and they do not live in the land of technology so I will not be able to read the boards or post often :( Any opportunity that I find to get online though rest assured that I will be checking in :)

I could have packed my bags last night but instead I was on itunes downloading music onto my computer. BF let it slip that I'm getting an ipod for Christmas :) Currently I've just been using my cell phone which is also an MP3 player. So not as cool as an ipod with an arm band :) Would love to have suggestions from you all on at least one of your favorite songs on your playlist so that when I run I have my "cool"running buddies running along with me :) And don't worry I love all genre of music. When I was on itunes last night I noticed that Lance Armstrong has a "running playlist" on there and to be perfectly honest I wasn't that impressed with his choices :)

AEK - congrats on signing up for the HM. That's awesome.

Bo - Not sure about the points for your bananna's foster bread pudding, but last Friday at my work Christmas party I had a bite of White Chocolate Pumpkin Bread Pudding and it tasted like it had at least 10 points in that one bite alone :)

Happy - don't let that one slip up get you down. Jump right back on that wagon. I'm a little jealous of your weather conditions as well. We still have snow on the ground here but nothing new in the last week and a half and what is on the ground is hard as a rock from melting a bit and then refreezing. Also, when you are able to update the race list will you add my first 5K which is the 6 Tunnel Half Marathon and 5K March 15th?

Rogue - glad you were able to take care of your PF and hopefully you will be running again before you know it.

Mel - So sorry to hear about all that you have going on. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Congrats on your 12 mile run. I'm not sure if you saw it but over on the WW post I asked if your HM is the weekend of January 12th? I might be in Disney that weekend.

Okay so today is W7D1 for me which means another 25 minute run! I'm excited to see if I can keep the same pace that I did this past Saturday.

Well everyone have a great day and I'm off to pack. Hoping to be able to check back in one more time before flying out tomorrow.

((((((Mel)))))))) Boy I am so sorry you are going through it right now. I will keep you in my prayers for your DH to find a job quickly. And CONGRATS to you for staying OP through all of this. Keep your head up, things will get better. Take care.

Hit the gym today for a lame weight workout and 15 minutes on the TM. I need to start running soon! This is a drag. I am bored with cross training. Plus I just cannot get my eating under control. It is frustrating haven't really be committed to WW since August. I took a look at my past WI's and I have fluctuated between 2 to 3 pounds up and down since then. I am hoping I can get through Christmas and New Years then focus. UGH hope so!

Happy: Thanks for asking about the boys! They are doing well, in the middle of finals this is their final week before break. DS18 is trying to think past graduation which is always interesting. Who knows what he will do. DS14 turns 15 on Friday so the countdown will be on for the drivers license! DS4 is just waiting for Santa to appear with all his presents!

Take care everyone and Happy Running!

ok, I looked around & glad they put a link to coolrunning forums otherwise I'm not sure I would have found my way back. LOL

Decided I would try to see if I could upload some photos... these are pics I took of my kids for Christmas cards this year.

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n15/gatorgirl71/c06db26e.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n15/gatorgirl71/5dcca6e6.jpg

That was pretty easy, just used their "insert/edit image" icon & linked to the web images that I had in my photobucket account.

xmas-card4.jpg xmas2.jpg

These last ones I did by selecting it off my hard drive. So... guess it works both ways.

thanks for viewing my kid's pics. LOL (like you had a choice!)

lifentheparks - I will be staying at Disney's Pop Century resort from Jan. 10-13 - my HM is on the 12th. Are you coming to Disney to do the parks? Enjoy your time in Mississippi!

rogue - thanks for the thoughts & prayers. Wish I could help you out with more ideas on crosstraining but I'm with you... I get bored with it after awhile.

HELLO!! I finally found it! YIPPEE! I have to confess I was in NYC for the weekend and was POP (perfectly OFF plan). I am not even getting close to a scale this week and can because I am lifetime - luckily! I haven't had time to read up on all the posts and I hope that everyone is ok and was good while offline. I did run yesterday and today (7 yesterday and 6 this morning) so hopefully I am back on track. Anyoo. I am also going to try to upload some photos using the new system, lets see what happens......

This is one of me and my husband after the Turkey day run my eldest daughter Amelia was NOT happy to have her photo taken - thus all the hair in her face. If I am able to attach a photo via my computer that photo is just me at the Hartford 5K in early October.

Hello All - I finally found you guys!! I have been missing everyone and tried to start a post yesterday (lord knows where??). This is all so confusing and I have to figure out how to get my old name back. I think I might need to create a new account or something. I have had a good week COLD runs. Got an 11 miler in on Saturday before we got a foot of snow dumped on us. Today I did 5 on the treadmill. I think we have more snow coming tomorrow - UGHHH. 3 storms last week and here we go again! Bo you should see how high the snowbanks are!! LOL - getting hard to back out of the driveway without wondering if a car is coming. Glad we are all slowly coming back. - Plugginaway

OK - so I figured out how to get my old name back - YAY. I think I did it wrong but ultimately it worked so good old "plugginaway" is back!

Happy I finished my Psych II class last Thursday (100 on the final - how cool is that??) but I am still working feverishly on my math online. I take the PreNLN January 12th and I need as high a math score as I can get to get into the program. Fingers crossed!

I'll write more tomorrow - nighty-night.

Not sure if this works or not....i get back from my cruise and withdrawl from not being able to check here and this is what I find! Took me like an hour to figure out (I think) how to post! WTF!!! Anyway....it is going to take some getting used to. Anyhow....I have a lot of catching up to do. Keeping you all in my thoughts as I saw a few people struggling with tough family issues. And I have RUNNING WITHDRAWL from my stress fracture, although I am happy to report that it is feeling better, I am out of the boot and wearing regular sneakers. Hoping I can still walk/run my New YEar's Eve race on 12/31. At least I'm going to get the **** T-shirt that I already paid for!

So me and the fam went on a cruise last week 7 day Eastern Caribbean. Ran into tropical storm olga and had 24 hours of 75% of the ship being seasick and 20 foot waves. Overall a good time except that day. I was able to do the stationary bike approx every other day for 40 minutes to try to keep off some of the excess calories! I think I did alright...had a few splurges (2 desserts one night....bad!!!!) but overall tried to have sensible breakfast and lunch each day./...not snack too much and eat whatever for dinner. And weigh in today i was DOWN 2.2lbs (over a 2 week period). I am hoping that I don't gain next week as some people in my group have told me that sometimes it takes a week or so for the lbs to catch up to what you ate.

Have a great rest of the week! Oh....can't figure out how to review the topic as i'm writing...but to whoever is going to the Disney pop century for the disney HM....i just stayed there in october for my disney tower of terror race and it was fine. no frills....but a nice clean room and nice overall hotel. cute themed rooms and property...and it was pretty close to MGM and Epcot!

I just finished watching The Biggest Loser finale & all I can say is WOW! I don't want to spoil it for those that have it recorded but it was very amazing, inspiring & a big kick in the pants for me to see all the weight that was lost with exercise & diet. It was perfect timing for me to watch that show as it gave me the motivation to keep at WW and keep losing weight... I'm so close, just 8 more pounds to my personal goal.

I had a small eating problem today & ate some cookies that me & the kids made yesterday. We gave nearly all of them away but kept some for the kids, I should have bagged them up instead of leaving them on the counter because I just couldn't keep away. Next time I'll know better!

Those of you looking for a new running log, I found one that I really like. It's at http://www.running2win.com/ and the guy who runs the site and the programming is super nice & helpful. I thought I would use the one at Runners World but it was missing some features that I liked on my old CR log & I also couldn't import my data from my old log. Went to running2win and emailed Mike my log file & presto he added it plus he is open to suggestions and is considering one change that I emailed him about.

lifentheparks - forgot to share my favorite running songs... I have to give you more than one because I have so many, but these are the ones that I use during races because they really motivate me. They are not in any order - pretty cool that it came in as a table http://community.active.com/images/emoticons/grin.gif

nhmommy - loved the pics! I think being off plan every once in awhile is ok, it's making sure that you get right back on that is the key!

plugginaway - glad you found us... I had a hard time too! I think the new board will be great once we all figure out how to use it. ha ha

cherbear - glad you made it back from your cruise & found us too! LOL too bad about the rough day at sea with the storm but good for you to exercise & restrain from eating the entire time (like I did on my last cruise!) That's me that is staying at Pop Century, it's my favorite value resort at Disney, it's the newest one of the 4 value resorts and basically a cute themed Motel 6 type place, but perfect for us since we don't do anything but sleep there... we're too busy being tourists. lol

Hi ya'll :)

I just watched the BL too, wow some kick butt transformations there, I won't spoil it either but in a way I am glad the person then won did, it the serves the others right I never liked how they played the game :)

I am really happy we are all finding each other again! I hope Nicole finds us too I also have been missing her!

Mel hugs to you, why does that kind of news always come this time of year, I hope you get lemonade of the lemons and your DH gets an even better job. Your pics are so awesome, your kids are just too darn cute and you have an eye for getting the moment, I will never tire of seeing pics!

All the pics are awesome, you all are a hot looking bunch!

Anyway Mel I read your cold run story, rolled on the floor laughing and headed out for my run, you was most def with me during this run, I thought of you muchly! It was 0 degrees F as I left my house, my thicker running pants were in the wash so I was a little concerned! I also remember giving advice on here to wear mittens last week but did I take mittens...oh no, in my wisdom I grabbed the cheap cotton $2 pair of Marine expo gloves. Oh my was it interesting going for a while! It is very dark and the snow we had is now compacted to slick ice, I kept to my neighbourhood so I was close to base and little traffic. LOL at no time during the run did my body temp even come close to breaking a sweat! I remembered Mel and how she rubbed her legs to get warm I considered it but my hands felt like two blocks of ice, I think they would have cooled my legs further! Actually my legs felt okay and once I took my fingers out of the finger part of the gloves and used them like mittens with my jacket sleeves pulled over them my fingers recovered somewhat :) I had the most problems with my eyelashes freezing! I could see the little ice lumps forming and by about 2 miles the ice lumps where big enough to obstruct my vision, oh I wish I had my camera charged when I got home! It looked like I had ice cubes on my eyes!

I managed 3 miles! I have decided that 0 degrees F is my limit to running outside! Any colder and I hit the gym. We have a huge inflatable sports dome in Anchorage and they are getting ready to open the first indoor 400 meter track in north America, it was on the news tonight that they are finishing up the final details with it so I may be dropping some $$$ on a pass to that place if this cold front does not head over to Canada soon!

So todays food looked like

B Western bagel (the 1pt one) with little peanut butter, grapes and 1/2 a pear

L Turkey subway sub and the baked lays, office function..I probably ate nearly 2/3 of a footlong

D More turkey sub about 1/3 cos I was still at work. 1 orange

S plain FF yogurt with berries and tiny bit granola sprinkled on top

S 0pt swiss miss hot chocolate made with plain light soy milk

64oz water

No vitamin yet and no healthy oil, you all have to get on to me about that vitamin!

The day doesn't look horrible but I need to cut back on the simple carby stuff and get more veg in if I hope to lose this week!

K you all I have to go make my steel oats before I can sleep so got to love u and leave you all! I don't wake early enough to make oats in the morning and this morning I was out of prepared oats hence the bagel :(

Have fun!

Wow...I've been gone from the site for about two weeks so will have to see how this works. I have been in Wisconsin since my Dad had to have surgery on December 5th...he went to the hospital a healthy 84-year old that completed the 8K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning to a man that has suffered from two bouts of pneumonia, a huge hematomia, kidney problems, etc. He now has a severe case of thrush from all the antibiotics but I 'think' we are on the upswing. I haven't been back to Chicago, no tree, decorations, gifts, etc., but if I get my Christmas miracle...Dad will be on the mend.

My sister is coming this afternoon and I am going to 'try' and do a run and see how it goes! I really feel the need to get some of this stress worked out of the system. I haven't been to a WW meeting in three weeks so I'm 'hoping' to get to one before next Tuesday!!! If not, I'm trying to hold my own although I have to admit some of the comfort food of old is calling my name.

Dan...my prayers are with you. Life is difficult and family/friends are what sustains us. ((( )))

Hopefully there will be a better report in the days to come...prayers always welcome.

Hi All...Just checking in really quick while at the airport waiting to catch my flight. It was snowing when I left Bryce this morning and is supposed to snow the next couple of days. While I'm excited to go visit the family I am bummed that I am leaving fresh snow to arrive in 70 degree temps :(

So I realized this morning that I might be crazy. I left my house at 4:30am so that I could make it to a 6am spin class on my way to the airport. I think I have a new addiction.

Mel your children are adorable. Share as many pictures as you wish :) Also, thanks for sharing some tunes from your playlist. We have very similiar taste in music and I already have a lot of those on my computer so once I get that new ipod I'll create a "coolrunning" playlist :) So I will be in Orlando for work the 10th and 11th and since BF is only a few hours from there (STILL in training) we are going to spend the weekend together. I'm wanting to do the Disney thing but he kind of wants to go to Daytona Beach so at this time I am not sure what exactly is going on.

Glad to see that slowly but surely the rest of the gang is showing up!

Nhmommy your daughter is also adorable. I LOVE the curls (I'm partial because I too have naturaly curly hair).

Well I imagine that I will find an opportunity before Christmas to check back in but if for some reason I don't I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

OK - so I don't really know how to do this whole site yet but LeanyJoan I hope you show up here. She found my "post" which I don't even know where it ended up - LOL. I am trying to figure out my runs for this hectic week which has become even more so with a wake and funeral. The best man at my wedding's sister was hit and killed by a plow during the last storm. The plow didn't stop but a passerby saw her in a snowbank and called an ambulance - she died on the way to the hospital. My thoughts for humanity is that the plow guy or gal didn't realize that they had hit someone. I need to get a run in tomorrow 6-8 miles (but we are in the middle of a 24 hour storm) and then a long run Saturday (funeral day). The friend I train with will also be going to the wake/funeral so together we will adjust our plans if the weather allows. I can only hope that I don't have to run 12 on the treadmill! UGHHH. OK - so

Bo- eyeleashes with frozen clumps - that is def. something for me to look forward to!! LOL - my coldest run to date has been 12 degrees and honestly single digits are not happening - you are my queen!! LOL

NHmommy - LOVE the curls in her face - too darn cute!! You actually look familiar so I wonder if we have bumped into each other somewhere already!

Lifein - I hope your Dad bounces right back - hard to imagine a strong man running Thanksgiving and getting so ill so fast. I will put him in my prayers.

Everyone else - I have read the posts but my memory stinks as to who is doing what until I can figure it all out let me say I am thinking of you - I read your posts and wish EVERYONE a happy and healthy week/holiday season/ and new year!! Pluggin
