Pain in top of foot of high school runner!

Hi!

I have been having pain in the center top of my right foot, basically the entire length that my laces cover, for a couple of months. I ran a time trial today, which nearly killed me, and I'm now finding that for the first time i also have the same pain in the top of my left foot. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Thanks!

Sounds to me like your shoes are tied too tightly. Is the pain right on the top of your foot, where there's that hump? That's your instep and if it's sore you have your shoes tied too tight.

Check out this site, you'll have to scroll down about 3/4 of the way until you get to the lacing techniques section. I thought I had a stress fracture for a while because the pain was so bad. One run with my laces in the 3rd pattern and I had NO pain.

Hope this helps.
