dehydration symptoms ???

Twice this summer I have had bad episodes while running. Both times were in race situations on warm or hot days. At about 4 to 5 miles into these hard runs I lose control of my pace, start leaning forward as I run (my mind at this point says slow down the body wont listen) then fall forward. As soon as this happens I get up and try to run again only to fall again. The first time this happened (early June) I went by ambulance to a hospital and had an EKG and nothing was found. This time, during a 10k race on Sunday, I refused to go in the ambulance and walked the final mile to finish the race. Mentally I was very scattered for the rest of the day and most of Monday. My calf muscles are still incredibly tight, which isn't right as I am use to doing 25-30 miles a week and this distance would never cause this much muscle ache.
Going for a stress test tomorrow but I feel that this is a matter of being dehydrated. Has anyone else had similar symptoms from dehydration?

This, Bud, is for you? (sorry, just had to say that)

Anyway yes, it does sound like a dehydrations problem. You might remember this scene from the 1984 Olympic Marathon. I believe it was the result of dehydration.

You might be starting out dehydrated. Stress before a run can accelerate dehydration too. Drink mineral water, or maybe do an electrolyte tablet 1-2 hrs.. before the run.
