Numb tow-shoes not too tight-bottom of foot pain

I'm new to this forum and so glad I found it! I am training to run a marathon. Training slowly and taking my time. After about an hour of running the third toe on my right foot goes numb. It starts to hurt, then is fine after numb, then is very painful when it 'comes back to life' after the run is over, or if I run using a different gait or turn on the foot oddly at any time during the rest of the run.

At first I thought it was tight shoes, but got great new shoes, very roomy, still happens. I believe i'm running fairly flat footed and striking an area beneath the second and third toe and perhaps that is causing it? I've been trying a different gait, rolling off of the foot rather than striking flat, and also wiggling toes and stretching them as I run when I remember to, but wondering if this could be the issue or if I should be seeing a podiatrist. Anyone have this before? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Kathy

You might want to look up Morton's neuroma and see if that is informative to you.
