Running after ACL revision?

I have a number of knee surgeries. I had my first ACL reconstruction in 1996. This past May, I fell walking down the stairs and had meniscus repair on my lateral and medial meniscus. Then I had ACL revision reconstruction (allograft) three weeks ago. My OS told me that he feels that running is the worst thing one can do your knees and wouldn't recommend me resuming it after I complete PT and get my knee and quads in shape. Has anyone been able to run (without knee injury) since an ACL reconstruction?

Your success in running post-operatively will depend on several things - but primarily how well you rehabilitate after your surgery. The ACL doesn't really come into play in normal ranges of motion, but your menisus is a key element of a healthy knee and since yours is no longer intact -- that will affect your biomechanics. The best way to deal with this is to work a LOT on strength - hips especially. Your knee depends in large part upon a strong set of core muscles in your hips, low back and abs and a well supported foot. If you have biomechanical challenges (i.e. pronate too late or too early or too far) then get evaluated by someone who can assist you with proper footwear and possibly orthotic support. If you support the knee correctly from the bottom and support it well from the top (foot and hip) then the loads on the tissue are reduced. Keep in mind that you're running on repaired tissue and keep your training moderate. I don't think you have to give up running, but you will probably want to ramp it back in order to preserve your joint as long as you can.
