Sta W4D3 ? May 5K

Sarah, York--any updates? Getting comfortable with W4, Sta?

Finished W5D3 this morning, my personal "Christmas miracle"! What a great run! I varied my route to catch a little different scenery and saw mist on the lake, geese flying in a 'vee', rabbits --and HILLS. This is supposed to be the coastal PLAINS, where did those hills come from??? All in all fantastic, no stops. Hip was fine, I'm icing it rght now. Sports doc said to shorten my stride, seems to work but I look funny, big dork in pseudospeedwalking mode!

I made a great playlist last night but for some reason it didn't work this morning so I ran with Ullrey and his techno-baby music. I looked ahead to week 6 and it seems that we have made the biggest leap already (5min to 20 min nonstop) and it's all gravy from here.

Speaking of gravy, anyone cooking today? lizard

Week 6, Day 1 complete. Did it first thing this morning so I would have no excuses later since it's Christmas Eve Day. Went to the grocery store and it was a madhouse! Plan to bake sugar cookies with my daughter and watch A Christmas Story (You'll shoot yer eye out!) and then church.

You all have a safe and happy holiday. I'll be back on Wednesday after Day 2 run.

Hey Cats!

I have not been to run since Friday, we had a heck of a storm, not alot of snow but lots of blowing, causing white out conditions. Then BAM, here is Christmas. So, my Christmas is over, we do Christmas eve, I might go run tomorrow. Santa brought me a sassy new track outfit and a new nike watch. So I am all set to get moving!

Merry Christmas Everybody

Update: W6D1 complete. Not too hard, and would have been even less challenging had I not taken an extra day of rest after finishing W5 in order to accommodate Christmas. Next run will be Friday!

Howdy LOLers,

Great progress everyone! It looks like we're all getting there!! What a great way to start the new year!!!!

Finished Wk6 Day 1 and 2 on Saturday and Monday. Currently trying to get motivated to do day 3 tonight.... or maybe tomorrow... A little worried about 25 minutes but I guess it can't be much worse than the 20 minutes from last week. I have to get moving - I feel so much better after I "run/jog"

Hey all you LOL'ers! Great job for getting those runs in even though it's a holiday week. I got Day 2 done this morning. It was tough but I made it through. I like doing it in the morning to get it out of the way- otherwise I notice that I obsess over it all day long :-) Sounds like you guys got some pretty cool running gifts! Okay, next up is 25 minutes! I'll be attempting it on Friday.

Has anyone lost any weight since they started this program? Just curious....

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We had a very relaxing couple of days and now life gets crazy again! I ran day 2 this morning and I will do day 3 at my parents house in Michigan on Friday. That's the great part about running - you can do it anywhere! Congratulations to everyone who kept running through all the cookies and gifts and in-laws! WHOO HOO!

Enjoy your 25 minute runs everyone!

Turtle, I've lost a little weight since I started the program, but not much; only 1.5 pounds or so. And I've been counting calories for the past couple of weeks, so I think it has more to do with that than with the running. I don't think C25K itself burns enough calories to cause a lot of weight loss. Once I get to running more often and longer, though... look out!

Hi everyone, - I tried to do wk6 day3 last night and unfortunately I had to take a walk break in the middle ;\ . I just wasn't feeling good. I think I'll repeat day 2 of this week another day or two then attempt day 3 again. I'm trying to focus on the positive.... I'm home on Christmas break so I may try to run/jog in the morning until I have to go back to work - maybe that will help.

Turtle - as far as weight loss goes - I had lost about 5 lbs but due to some holiday over indulgence I am currently back up a couple. I had expected to lose more but three days a week probably isn't enough to make a big impact calorie wise. I'm thinking of getting an eliptical machine or joining a gym for some cross training.

Good luck everyone with the rest of week 6!

Howdy gang....hope the holidays are going well for everyone! Congrats to all as you keep after it!! I am freaking sick and have not run this week at all...Entire body aches and have ZERO energy so I'm trying to be smart and not push my luck since I've already come this far. If I'm up to it I'll repeat W5D3 on Friday and Sunday before starting Week 6 next week...Just wanted to say "HI" and let ya know I'm around but just a little down but WILL come back strong I promise! Hi all,

It's amazing how everyone has kept going despite all the distractions of the holidays - hope you all had a great time.

I just finished Wk6D2 - I was very happy that it was a lot easier that Wk6D1 which was awful - I only gave myself one rest day and I think it was too little recovery time and I was out of breath within seconds and every one of the minutes after that was torture. It did feel good afterwards though....

I had an interesting W5D3. I normally run alone and I was dreading the 20m run, but just as I got to the park, I ran into an acquaintance of mine - we ended up running together. As it turns out, she runs about the same speed as me. I've never run with a partner before and it seemed a whole lot easier than running alone.

So, it looks like WkD3 for me will be sometime this weekend, with my new running partner!
