upper thigh pain

Hi all,

I have been having a dull pain in the inner thigh area close to the groin. This has been there for about 2 months now and does not really pain a lot when running. Its a sort of dull pain thats there even when I am walking and am concerned that it may get worse. It also hurts when I do certain types of stretches. I even took 2 weeks off and its still there. Any idea what it might be and how I can get rid of it?

Thanks!

Sounds like a tendon tear or strain.

Rest for the injury is the only answer and this can take a couple of months. X-training via the bike might work for you. Walking, no jogging, will help also.

What did you find when you Google'd the injury?

This sounds like it could be a hip flexor issue. Have you been to a good Dr?
If it is the hip flexors, the correct stretches and good massage will probably help. Yoga may help too, if it is the hip flexor. I would go to a good Dr, preferably one who is also a runner, and have it professionally diagnosed so you know what you are dealing with. I would be cautious of running too much until you know what you are dealing with.

"What concerns me is that certain stretches cause pain and also feel it when I walk."

Allow me to repeat my original comment.

"Sounds like a tendon tear or strain."

Beating on it unmercifully won't fix it and can cause further injury.

Pain is the body's way of telling the brain there's something wrong.

Your choice whether to listen or not.

Wishing you well with what ever you choose to do
