I just wanted you all to know how grateful I am for your prayers and good thoughts on my behalf. I was notified today that I have an interview scheduled for this new opportunity on Thursday the 20th.

I have spent the past 7 years working on a purchasing team made up of my supervisor, myself, and a data input assistant. I get along famously with my supervisor, and she knows she can count on me to take the lead role in almost every new project that comes to us - I ask for the responsibility and she allows me to take on the challenges. In the process, I have honed my craft to the point that I am basically a lead Coordinator being paid as an Assistant Coordinator. We agree, and so does her supervisor (the unit Chief), that I am ready for a promotion to Coordinator. Unfortunately, the current Coordinators are only 53, 49 and 48 years old, and the only opportunity I will ever get in this unit is when one of them retires - not likely for another 10 years.
The position I am interviewing for is at the same level as the Coordinator - the equivalent title and remuneration. I have applied and interviewed for positions at this level several times in the past several years since I obtained my Public Administration degree, but have not been offered any of those positions, most likely because they were posted as opportunities, but were actually just promotions for the eventual hires.
I think that if this position is not offered to me, I will most likely start looking for a new position somewhere else in local or state government, so as not to lose my 12-1/2 years in the retirement system, or all of the nice benefits that go with gubment work. I enjoy working where I do, and enjoy the benefits and the working hours and relative flexibility.
Please continue to pray for me. I need to either move on here or move on, period.
