Friday September 7 Boomer Runs

Hahaha - I beat WRFB in opening the daily!

1 mile warm-up, 4 miles tempo (8:58, 8:53, 9:06, 8:45). Now that's more like it!

Have a great day everyone. Healing vibes to those of you on the DL.

Re: Friday September 7 Boomer Runs
Nice tempos PDR. And good to beat WRFB to the thread.

12 listless, sproinkless, easy miles at 4:30 AM. Average pace 9:35. The temp was 80 but the humidity was down to only 77%, so the HR stayed nicely in the easy range. 139 avg. 148 was the highest.

No oatmeal for me. Cantaloupe instead. Yummmm!

Bill

Re: Friday September 7 Boomer Runs
6 miles this afternoon at a 8:56 pace. Woke up this morning and thought I might be on the DL. I started getting occasional sharp pains on the outside of my right knee. Felt like pain I had a few years ago when I had a bought of ITB syndrome. I ended up finding a painful knot in my ITB. I massaged it out (still feels kinda sore) and the sharp pains went away. Ended up having a great pain free run. Good runs to everyone and TGIF!

Morning Boomers
A fast run, a long run to start, sfch watch that knee.
I had a 5 miler and me and woody encountered a runaway sheep. (Now remember everybody woody is my dog, I am not into that) It was just before the halfway point, so I run up to that, paused the garmin and went back to rescue sheepy. I called the police but two estate workers turned up and took over. Woody was perfectly behaved and didn't want to go near the sheep
Good Runs All
Roy

PS: I had been to the doc for some blood work, had to wait weeks on the results due to vacation but all was well............

Glad you kept your woody under control Roy.

Long day yesterday. Last night's run on the TM, 1.5%gr. LR w/quality (MP and fast finish). 18.0 in 2:06:36. I love fast finishes. Some RR miles later today.

Good luck to this weekend's racers!

Re: Friday September 7 Boomer Runs
good morning all. first morning of school year running for me. that means up at 5 to make sure I've run and showered and out of the way so DW and DD can get at our 1 single bathroom for school prep. 3.2 miles in 29 minutes before sunrise. That half hour makes a much bigger difference than I thought it would.

where did the saying " where men are men, and the sheep are nervous" originate? Don't want to insult the wrong people

hally, for some reason, borrowed wireless is highly satisfying.

BOOMER FEATURED RACE

We are quickly moving towards the next featured race for meeting other Boomers........Shape Up Somerville

This is being held in Somerville, Mass on September 30th with our own La Tortuga as Race Director.

To date we have 9 people listed as being a part of the fun. I am sure others will be there as well. I know that some were going to check their schedule, budget, and other such matters to determine whether they could go.

NOW IS THE TIME TO COMMIT!

Ahhh - much needed rest day today. Bonus is that it is pouring down rain which made sleeping in all the more luxurious! Brinkley crawled up in my lap last night - he has forgiven me for the diaper incident.

HI Roy!! I'm happy Woody was well behaved.

TGIF!

morning boomers,

PDR, first & fast!
nice run, byll.

sfch, glad you had a pain free run. hope it stays that way.

roy glad your blood tests were good. I thought about telling you to pet woody because he was so well behaved, but thought better of it.

71F, 75%H. 45:06, 4.25 miles, ahr 164, max 183, ave. pace 10:37, max 6:27. 6X100m striders, 4 flat, 2 downhill. um, maybe 3 downhill. oh well. had a nice run this morning, I liked it.

hally, glad it's SWEET!

nice run Skip. glad you found your speed, was hard to tell from this distance that you'd lost it. stoopid question, but are MP runs what they used to call junk miles? (as far as hr)

go racers :-)

Re: Friday September 7 Boomer Runs
Good Morning, Boomers!

Way to go, PDR! Great job for a Friday morning!

Holly - the oatmeal/mincement cookies sound intriguing - not sure I can wait until Christmas to try them.

Bill - you are really acclimated to the heat and humidity. 139 average HR is spectacular!

sfch - take care of that knee!

Roy - no sheep for woody? What's wrong with him?

67 humid degrees this morning for my hilly 7.25 miles. I didn't develop any sproink until the last few miles. There was a nice breeze blowing off the ocean, and a nice lobsterman gave me a hearty wave as I ran along the shoreline. A good end to a running week.

Good runs and a good weekend to all!

Hally, your new bike is gorgeous. But it's ironic that someone who keeps a guy in her closet is telling everyone else to behave.

Re: Friday September 7 Boomer Runs
Good Morning Boomers!

Roy?

Skip ? 18 miles on the treadmill? Now THAT is some fortitude!

Kameele ? we fight over one bathroom at our house, too, and my kids are only 5 and 10. I?m like a drill sergeant on work mornings, calling out teeth-brushing and hair-combing deadlines.

Dg9 - your paces are getting faster and faster

Sue ? once you try those, you will be hooked for life. I think they have a 12-step program for those cookies.

I?m so tired this week. I have no idea why, I?m running only minimally. My alarm was set for 5:25 instead of 4:40 today, but I could still hardly get up get up for the alarm. Up at 5 again tomorrow, too, since we have early soccer games. Perhaps an afternoon nap tomorrow will do the trick.

No run for me today, light x-training instead: lunges, weighted squats, dead lifts, weighted duck squats, bench dips, various ab-stuff. Lunges and weighted squats in the same day means I?ll be walking like a sailor tomorrow, but this is the last lower-body weight-training until after the marathon.

The speedy Boomer woman who won 1st female OA in my recent 5K told me that she thought I looked like a good marathoner. She was stick-thin, all lean muscle and sinew, and told me that my stocky, muscular build was good for endurance running. I think that was a compliment?

Happy Friday!
