Boomers Reaching the Beach in a Relay

If you are planning to run the Reach the Beach Relay this week and want to say hello to fellow boomers then I figured a thread to coordinate this might help. There is a Thursday dinner and Friday breakfast and, of course, the beach at the finish on Saturday. The simplest thing that I can think of is to just have people list their team name and first name. After that it will just be a matter of wading through to find each other. Anybody with a better idea of how to make contact feel free to say so!

I am running with the Rosie Ruiz Fan Club. (Our motto is "200 Miles the Easy Way." I love it!) If you want to say high just ask for Matt. Asking for Twocat might not work so well!

Re: Boomers Reaching the Beach in a Relay
I'm running with CHalupas (also mixed masters). Bob. Lucky me: I get leg 3 too. (I also get a 4th leg, 32, because we're a 10-person team.) We start at 9:20.

We're staying in Hampton beach on Thursday and Saturday nights.

I am leg 2, which was ok when the third leg was 4.5; now it is 8 hilly miles, and I doubt I will sleep much...oh well, should be fun...

Don't know if you've done 4 before, but I was forced to last year. My 4th leg was 6.5 miles and that was a drag. I also ran Leg 13, which I assume you'll be doing. It's a pretty easy leg, with a slight uphill mid-way. You just have to be careful about making the turn off the main road onto Route 113 near the finish.

I'm with him. I've got 4 legs. I'm twice as fast too.

On four legs, the third would not be so bad... we start at noon

Yeah, I did four last year as well (4, 14, 24, 3x). Was signed up for three, but one of our runners had to call it quits after three. My fourth was an easy five miler -- on paper. Just about killed me, after the first three. I shudder to think what leg 32 (6.8 miles, w/ 150 ft. hill in the middle) will feel like, after leg 3 and two more. At least 13 and 23 won't be so bad.

Thanks for the head's up on the turn.

Re: Boomers Reaching the Beach in a Relay
I guess I didn't unvolunteer fast enough. Actually the team captain, who assigned the legs, is the only one on the team who's run anything like that profile before (Mt. Washington Road Race - much, much worse than leg 3!).

But what the ****, it will be a new experience.
