Re: Mon Oct 1st Boomer Runs
Started back to the gym today. I have a new appreciation for those Boomers who ride bikes (and I'm not talking Harley's!). After 30 minutes on the stationary bike, I thought my legs were going to fall off! Did a few free weights and crunches as well. No telling how sore I'll be in the morning! Tomorrow afternoon I meet with a trainer and have my program set up.

Happy running/walking to all!

Re: Mon Oct 1st Boomer Runs
I'm having one of those disjointed-trying-to-do-ten-things-at-once-and-getting-none-of-them-done kind of days. I even forgot to post this morning's run: easy 5 to start a mileage cut-back week.

I was trying to explain to a non-runner?who mistakenly thinks I?m a ?pretty good? runner?just how fast Haile Gebrselassie?s marathon time was. This finally seemed to make an impression:

If Haile gave me a 2-hour head start, and I ran my current marathon PR, I?d win ?.by 6 seconds.
Assuming even splits, if Haile and I had a one mile race during the final mile of his marathon (after he?d already run the first 25.2 miles) he?d win by about a minute and twenty seconds.

Re: Mon Oct 1st Boomer Runs
Our computer at home is very fickle lately; bad ethernet card I think. So I haven't been able to keep up with the race reports...
tselbs, that long run Saturday was actually a walk, but thanks for putting it in your honor roll.
Yesterday DH and I rode bikes a couple hours, unmeasured distance, some big hills. Today I did the usual bike commute and am leaving school now to go home and walk 5. Will lift some weights tonight as well while watching whatever DH puts on tv. I'll try to get online again tonight. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Re: Mon Oct 1st Boomer Runs
Hello Boomer's . . . I'm back from a most enjoyable anniversary weekend with MrHopeful. I may post some scenery photo's tomorrow.

Saturday I was out for a 4 mile run - with hills - can't seem to avoid them up north.

Last evening I ventured out for a longish run - hoping for 10 - but it was pretty warm outside. Stoopid me - didn't bring a water bottle. At mile 6 I dug out my cell phone (Perch - bring one!) and called home for a ride. No one home. So I run/walk the last two miles for a total of 8 very slow miles. I think I dehydrated myself though, as I'm still fighting a headache today - but drinking, drinking, drinking. dumb of me I know.

Rest day today other than my 300 crunches. Hope to do some cross training tonight if I feel up to it.

`Mary

Re: Mon Oct 1st Boomer Runs
No running today, but will go to the gym after work for some whatever. Maybe elliptical, maybe just weights, maybe both. Just need to fill time till 6 to pick up DS2 from B-ball. Getting excited about this coming weekend!! We leave Friday afternoon, come home midnight Tuesday. Hope the weather got it all out of it's system for awhile...

Eric, you have an evil DW. My DH had cinnamon rolls waiting for me when I came back from my 10 miler yesterday.

Holly, I don't think you'll have any problem blasting your HM PR...

DH, hope Dark Colt is ok. Life is hard enough at that age without the added problem of missing dad. {{Horse family}}

Nordic... how'd I miss that you're coaching Crystal?? Very kewl. Sounds like a good trip up north... I've lived here all my life and haven't been past the Brooks Range...

Busy as a Phoenix Coyote goaltender today.

6.2 miles with 2.65 w/u and c/d and ...
25 minutes @ 4:22/k avg (7:02/m)

Shoulda been 4:20/k. (Dekes around the hapless goalie ... scores!!!!!)

1300
82f 100% humidity (few raindrops, huh)
8.5mi ez 8:30 pace

dang, way way way more sweat drops than rain drops; wimpy desert clouds, pah! (as i'm typing, it started pouring, rats...)

choovie choovie choovie

as i've been trained to never purposefully poke fun at the gorgeous body of any boomer goddess, the best lines i could come up with were more along the lines of corny. still bad for sure... and these are the pg-13 versions

"my heart rate is really low... could you help me get it up?"

"is your chest as chafed as mine is?"

"wanna share some gu? this heat has my packet ready to explode."

LOL - great hockey analogy, although Wayne Gretsky might not see the humour.

Btw - your comment about lacrosse on my RR. I did play quite a bit of box lacrosse. Jim Bishop was a coaching legend in lacrosse and was instrumental in signing me with the Jr 'A' Oshawa Green Gaels at the time, although he didn't coach the team that year. I was then drafted by the Windsor Warlocks and Jim was our coach in the pro loop that year. He was the most inspirational sports coach I ever played for or knew. He was all about conditioning, disciplined system play and peak performance. I often ran to exhaustion in his practices and games. He was a great role model as well. (Jim was also Ex Dir of the Detroit Red Wings and got me a tryout at their camp that fall.)

We made a trip west that year and played the New West Salmonbellies and Coquitlam Adirondacks (?). The west coast continues to be a hot bed for box lacrosse.

SS,

I seem to recall the last time the fleet was in, you were as busy as a member of COYOTE.

Hi Boomers! Still sore from Saturday's long run, was going to do about 8 or so but decided to cut it short, went 4 miles. Just about right I think. I don't know if this would be up there on the list, but how about

Just making the monthly appearance so that I can preserve the intellectual property rights to my name and signature.

PBJ?I kinda sorta had a similar conversation with my wife this week-end. She asked if I had running plans for the month, as she was preparing the October family calendar. I responded, ?Other than running, no? OK so the similarity ended at the word running?what do you expect from a guy dropping in monthly.
