Yep! $20 apparently. But I bet you can still get the podcasts for free!

OK that REALLY sucks! I don't think I like this new site at all. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!

I'm already in Week 8, so I know what the next 2 weeks are. I just can't believe they are that greedy! I need to make sure I get a copy of OHR in case they are charging for that now too.

Re: They Are Not Seriously Charging for C25K..

I am really disappointed with this whole thing as well. I have been trying to maintain a good attitude about this transition but it is becoming pretty hard. Charging money for what has been free for a long time is just wrong.

I am trying to be active on this forum but I have been thinking about leaving for another site. It would be interesting to know where all the coolrunning folks are leaving to. I am currently evaluating runningahead.com and runnersworld.com. They both use the same log software except runningahead is maintained by the person who wrote the software and it is better supported and newer. Runnersworld.com has a huge forum community. Kickrunner.com is another site people are leaving for but they are down for a week while they upgrade there server hardware. They are being overrun by coolrunning people.

Re: They Are Not Seriously Charging for C25K..

If the folks who run this thing were really interested in promoting running and providing a forum for runners, they would NEVER consider charging for the C25K. That program helped so many people that I know gain confidence in their ability to run, and even become lifelong runners. Truly shameful.

If you're looking for a new place, I recommend runningahead for your log. They will import your CR log info, but they too are getting overrun with CR deserters, so it may take a little bit of time.

Meanwhile, Kickrunners is a fantastic place for forums. A very large (and very chatty) group of us (30-somethings) jumped over there a while ago (a year, maybe??). At first, we sort of felt weird about leaving CR behind, but now we all just love it. I maintained my running log on here for a long time, but now that I have found runningahead, I won't need to do that either. With the unpleasant changes happening here, I don't think they deserve the traffic. I will even try to find a different source for finding local races. Not a fan of Active at all.

Any chance you admin folks are reading any of these?????

Re: They Are Not Seriously Charging for C25K..

When I was looking to start running, if I'd had come across c25k and they were charging, I would have just moved along, and probably have given up by now. Shame on the people trying to profit off those attempting to change their lives for the better and discover the joy of running.

I have it saved in word (and ullrey's podcasts should anything happen) and will freely give it to anyone who wants it.

Re: They Are Not Seriously Charging for C25K..

Guys,

Don't worry about bookmarking the page with the free C25K program... it will remain 100% free for all users that want to print a copy. We are not planning to change any of the free training programs available on Cool Running. What we are charging for on the digital version of C25K is just that... it's digital and may be uploaded in your Active Trainer account. This allows users to log their actual workouts against the C25K plan to track their progress.

Hope that clears up this misunderstanding before rumors run rampant :)

Re: They Are Not Seriously Charging for C25K..

It would probably of been good PR to offer the digital version for free as well to give new customers a taste of what this new digital training is all about. I am thinking all this does is import the training into my calendar. I could do the same thing manually in about a 1/2 hour and save some money in the process.

I have attached the C25K plan and others for the benefit of anyone who wishes to save it and share with other new runners who are just getting started.

Re: They Are Not Seriously Charging for C25K..

Yup, I actually agree with you Mike. I'll talk to some folks to see what we can do about that.

Thanks!
