DENVER MARATHON WELCOMES CHICAGO RUNNERS

DH noticed this last night:

"Denver Marathon Waives Marathon Race Entry to Welcome
Chicago Runners Looking to Finish

WHAT: The Denver Marathon, scheduled for October 14, 2007, announced today that it will waive marathon entry fees to runners who were registered for the Chicago Marathon but were unable to finish.

HOW: Persons registered for the Chicago Marathon can register online for the Denver Marathon at www.denvermarathon.com[/URL" target="_blank"> and enter the online referral code ChicagoRunner or they may register in person on Friday or Saturday, October 12 or 13, at the Denver Marathon EXPO located at the Adams Mark Hotel, 1550 Court Place.

Chicago runners registering for the Denver Marathon will need to present proof of registration for the Chicago Marathon and a photo ID at packet pick-up. For more information about the race or packet pick-up, please go to
www.DenverMarathon.com.[/URL" target="_blank">

WHY: ?As a former professional athlete, I know what it takes to train for a big race and the disappointment of not being able to finish due to circumstances outside of my control,? said Denver Marathon Executive Director Anton Villatoro. ?In response to many local Colorado runners who were hoping to complete the Chicago Marathon last weekend but could not finish, our race wants to give these runners another chance to reach the finish line.?

The Denver Marathon race course is flat and has little to no elevation change and will be certified by USA Track & Field as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

About the Denver Marathon?

Do they only need to run the last few miles? That would be a very long walk break.

I was thinking there would be a lot of Chigaco runners looking for a second chance. Already a lot of them are signing up for Philadelphia. It's a smart marketing move for Denver to do the free entry. Wonder how many people will make use of it.

Re: DENVER MARATHON WELCOMES CHICAGO RUNNERS
We are going to have PERFECT temps for the run on Sunday!! Should be about 40 at the start from what I see...maybe some drops of rain, but like mtnchk says - probably in the afternoon! It's a great course - but there are some hills. I'm running the half this year - but did the full last year. For me, the Wash Park area was the worst part - and they have changed that part of the course!!!

Party at C-mom's house!!!

Re: DENVER MARATHON WELCOMES CHICAGO RUNNERS
it's a cruel cruel joke. first melt them in chicago, then asphyxiate them at 5,000 foot altitude in denver...

(geez, c-mom, give us a little warning on the next party...)
