What is their only 3 of us running Detroit this year? I'll be running in my Hanson's Distance project uniform in the 3hr 55 min. corral. I am spending Saturday and Sunday at Ren Cen, I hate to shower after the race and then have to drive straight home, It prolongs recovery. I fyour goimg to be their give me a shout MarkGuy, Tselb and whoever is going to be their.

Excellent, I was wondering about a meeting. At a minimum we can meet in the 3:55 coral. Right now I'm planning on running with that pace group. When I settle my plans for the expo I'll let you know. I for one, would like to meet more of the tselbs clan

Re: Free Press Marathon meet?
Hi, dshclio and Mark. Since we're all in the half, we won't see you in your corral. We don't have real specific plans yet. On saturday, we'll pick up our packets at the expo on our way back from attending a friday wedding in Columbus, OH. We'll spend saturday night in the Royal Oak area and drive to the race sunday morning. I'm a little nervous about driving in and finding parking. Last year, when our son ran, we didn't have any trouble but, having a senior's memory, I don't remember what time we set out in the morning. I'll look at the map and try to remember roch's advice last year. Feel free to offer suggestions. It would be neat if we saw you at the expo or before the race.

Hey guys,

Just a reminder, the registration card says you'll need a passport OR drivers license and certified birth certificate to get your race packet.

That's a good move. I dislike getting up super-early to drive somewhere and have to find a place to park in the dark. That's one reason why I'm doing Grand Rapids this year: I can stay at a hotel a few blocks away, get up and have a Starbucks down in the lobby, and then casually walk over to the starting line.

Tom: I don't have any specific advice for you. Since I'm not running, I haven't scoped it out this year. The past few years I've gotten there early enough to park in the Ford Field garage, but with a Lions game this year I am not sure where the best available parking will be.

Re: Free Press Marathon meet?
Thanks, Mark. From the map, my thought process was the same as yours but I've only been in that area a couple of times so your post makes me feel better (less apprehensive) about what I'd planned.

Re: Free Press Marathon meet?
roch, last year you gave me directions to get to the general area of the start from the north. You had me going south on I-75. Just after I-75 turns to the west, you told me where to get off. I don't remember just where that was. If you wouldn't mind, a refresher would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Free Press Marathon meet?
Tom, not sure what Doug told you last year, but I'm guessing he mentioned the Madison Street exit just after 75S turns into 375. The exit is on the left and dumps you out very close to Ford Field.

Here's a map with some of the parking lots marked:

Re: Free Press Marathon meet?
Thanks, anachrotech. Next year I hope you'll be running.

I don't think it'll get into the 70's until after the race. I'm seeing:
8am: 53, 12mph winds
11am: 66, 14mph winds

I think given the wind it will feel much cooler. It should be a loooong run down Lafayette for those last 3 miles. I'm still up in the air about what top I'm wearing. My bib number is 569 and it will be on my shorts.

See you tomorrow.
Mark
