Yes, that is THE way to run a marathon! What a tremendous race you ran - no surprise that you nailed all of your objectives. Congratulations on such superb results from all the planning, training, and racing that you've done leading up to Hartford.
Thanks also for the detailed RR, including the pre, during, and post-race activities.
Pro - Excellent racing - wow! Congratulations on meeting all of your goals!
Question, though. How did the lady know about CR - were you wearing a t-shirt that said CoolRunning?
Congrats on a greta race Ciagr!! It was an honor to run your double secret hydration formula out to you a mile 21. It was an extra special treat to meet the DW from Dover at dinner the night before. I hope she attends more events now that she realizes that although we ar strange we are harmlessly strange.
Great race. It was fun to read.
It will be interesting to watch the Pro vs Tall smack down at Boston next spring, I wonder what kind of wager there will be on the race?
Lots of comments on all the E-caps. Here's the ingredients:

Chloride(as Sodium Chloride) 60 mg.

Magnesium (Chelate) 25 mg.
Potassium (Chelate) 25 mg.
Vitamin B-6 (Pyrodoxine HCL) 6.6 mg.
Manganese (Chelate) 1.6 mg.
L-Tyrosine 50 mg.
Our main ironman here has eaten these thngs like candy too. And in a 10 hr IM, you can eat a lot. I think they help, and are essentially modern salt tablets.
I guess the Boston water stop is a question now. So instead of testign my organizing skills, I will get to test my mgmt skills. I do not see it being the same. Buying and making up all those custom bottles was a logistical task. So maybe a short menu of std drinks. Or you have to get me your custom fluids. So who's in??
Jim24115, I know I broke all the rules re going out fast. But I wonder if I am different. I never hit a wall. I just get crampy hamstrings and end up pushing the cramp envelope, so to speak. Trotting along at 8:30 or 9, with plenty of energy to go faster, but governed by the twinges. I am thinking go even faster so I can get to the finish line in sub 3, because that's when the twinges start. Only half serious.
Tall, Before I go after You and PBJ, I am going after Sans Souci and Egret. There, I threw down the glove! One step at a time. And if I am to chase one or the other I am choosing the cute butts first.
Holly, Yes. My shirt says Boomer Reunion Run on the back. TheProFromDover on the front.

Great job hitting all of your goals! Each Hartford RR sounds better and better. One thing though, the world might not be ready for your marathon race strategy! I am pretty sure that if I knocked out a few fast miles early would have seriously bad repercussions later on. But, it sure seems to work for you!
