Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
Hello everyone

11 km at 12:20 because - I can't believe I'm saying this on October 21 - it was hot outside and I faded at the end. I think this post might disqualify me from this elite group. But I am 50.....

Today is a beautiful fall day with record-breaking temperatures in the 70s. I think everyone is outside today.

Thought I'd put my summer running gear away but I'm glad I procrastinated!

I've been struggling with pirirformis problems for about 10 months now and today felt very good, I'm happy to report.

I'm off to have breakfast #2.

Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
Woke up to a loud bang this morning. Come to find out a poor little squirel blew himself up on the transformer at the end of our driveway. poor fella fried himself and knocked out the power in our neighborhood.

Anyway I ran another 3mi today from my gym at a 9:30 pace. Felt great. Then did weights for 45 min. Nice workout.

hollys4874 thanks for the welcome back

Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
Great cartoon DaveinAA! Today I ran a 4 mile race. Three, yes count them three, port-a-potties! What are RD's thinking!?

On to my mini-race report. I finished in 25:38. Good for a new PR, 9 OA and 4 AG. But I got the 3rd place AG award since the winner was 40! Yes! My first and, alas, last trophy of the year. DW finished 13/36 which she was pretty happy with.

Mini-story: Last year this race garnered my vote for the worst run finish in racing history. I went there with DW and two friends. Not one of our finishes were recorded properly! Way to go! 0 for 4! I finished 3 in my AG but was recorded 4 since they counted a walker who "beat" me in. DW was recorded as finishing over a minute faster then she did. Basically because the "lost" runners as one of my friends found out when she was not listed as having finished. My other friend was listed as a guy, which will no doubt leave her boy friend quite shocked. Actually, anybody with eyes! At least this year the times, sexes, and finishers seem to have been recorded properly. Now if they can only spring for say six port-a-potties.

Good running and a good Sunday all.

Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
So, Erika, got an old Garmin you want to sell cheap? Or maybe I should ask DW for the 205 at Xmas because I already have a Nike HR monitor that, as you know, I use all the time.
ETA-congrats! Does getting first in AG make up for the carpy weather?

Welcome geovi4! Glad to have you join us.

Running Club North awards banquet last night... Nordic and his cookies were a no show. I got 9th overall for women, 1st in AG, and a nice long-sleeved black tech shirt for doing all the races in the series. I also won a cool door prize...

<HR>

Erika, I only did 3 of the 7 races in the series + our son had a sleep over with his friends so it was a no go this year. Hopefully my absense was largely unnoticed (most likely!). Congrats on your AG win and fancy door prize. I don't remember them giving out such nice prizes.

Best to your new nephew in-law. Is he at FWA?

Going skiing today! What a day it is.

Erika the Lucky One.
Welcome aboard geovi
Nice one Tramps,

An away game for me today. It was fun. I got to participate in my first non-racing group run. It was in the NC Arboretum trail system near the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville NC. Just a beautiful day. Below 40 at the start. We ran for a bit over an hour about 7 er 8M. 8-10 runners in our pace group. We took breaks. Chewed the fat. etc.
Today was my rescheduled weekly FunRunDay- just to run tech-nekkidly, no watch, no HMR, (well maybe music) whatevah day.

Ummm......evanflein......are we praying for this young man's safe return from Iraq?.....or the honeymoon?

16.2 miles on a warm day. I had wanted to get in 18 but this will have to do.

Now to enjoy the rest of the day with some NASCAR....football......and then the Red Sox seventh game win !

Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
Beautiful day.

Did 30 or so minutes ez. The insides of head were banging around....ouch a few too many single malt scotchs last night with topdown and his lovely wife. The two of them came over last night with their daughter to have home made pizza My girls have a dandy time with theirs and we adults get to chat and have a few drinks.

They brought over migthy nice home warming gifts and we all had a great time. Back to the run....Once my brain stopped sloshing away in that scotch mixture, I had a really nice run...

Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
Good afternoon Everyone,

I waited until 2:00 to run today and it was 80F!!!. I put in 4 miles in 40:45.

Now I'm sitting enjoying the fruits of someone's labor, a sam adams winter lager. I'm told that's a great way to replenish one's carbs.

Sam Adams is my favorite patriot. What a guy.

eta: GO TRIBE!!!

To cap a recovery week, I ran 10 at about a minute off race pace. Watched some of the head of the charles as the middle 5 overlapped that area of the Charles River. Such an amazing day out there today...

Enjoy!

Re: Sunday October 21 Boomer Runs
Easy 3-miler around the slough. Very misty, drippy, rainy, sloppy, slippery, damp and dank. No lack of moisture around these parts.

Erika - congrats on the club win!! and lucky you for the Garmin, they are really fun little toys (whoops, I mean necessary tools!)
