Anyone who was wondering what my secret was for smashing my PR and goal . . . well, there you have it - Johnny is my sekrit! He's a good coach and motivator. All summer it was "garden this, canning that; baking this, cooking that; take DS here, have DS's friends over; lunch with John and Rinda, scrapbooking, yada. Oh, sure, a little bit about running too but ...

oh SS, you had me chuckling out loud with your comments! LOL I have no idea where a 17 min improvement came from, especially considering I'm just a "semi runner". My average weekly mileage of about 20-25 mpw is really the bare minimum of what a I should be doing. In fact, last week was my first ever week of hitting 30 mpw (that included the HM mileage). makes me wonder what I could do if I really took my training up a notch. But I'm too busy with all my other fun things in life, like baking, gardening, canning, playing with DS, organizing playdates, etc. to give it much more time than I already do. Maybe someday.
legs are getting a bit tighter today - not helping that I'm sitting at my desk all day. Need to stretch tonight for sure. I did start the R&R alcohol part already DarkHorse. I actually drank 24 oz of Corona last night! crap - I NEVER drink that much! something about that beer just really hit the spot though. I did have about 1/2 an organic beer at Eel River Brewing Company the night before . . . maybe there's something to having a beer the night before a race??

Holy Cow, Tammy. CONGRATS on a huge PR.... 17 minutes in a 1/2, thats almost unheard of. Well, until now. You were smokin. Yes, you must carbo load the night or several nights before. Beer is a great way. I usually have two beers (local micro brews if I can find them) the night before. Its relaxing plus its extra carbs. Congrats again. now get back to training for the next PR.
