To "Active" Sara, from everyone here who is unhappy.

I understand you've been asked to try to help people with the poorly-designed new format of everything around here. However, to cut-and-paste the same answer to everyone in which to insult their intelligence by suggesing that "new things take some time to get used to", and all that naive, politically-correct BS is ingratiating and ridiculous.

No one likes the format. We all understand the concept of learning curves and finding our way around new websites - after all, we figured out the original cool running site and stuck with it. We are grownups who can accept life's little challenges, Sara.

I don't want to come down on you too hard, but again - to suggest that "moving to something new from something familiar is going to cause some discomfort" is, in this case, like saying it takes time to get used to moving from a finely-tuned car to one with flat tires and a manual written in another language. You are missing the point.

We UNDERSTAND the concept of "a new website". The problem is that this new website is badly designed, overly confusing, slow, clumsy, and a let-down. Since no one at Active wants to admit this, they sent you to put a spin on the issue and say it's not because of all the above that we hate the site, it's because of a "learning curve". Don't you see how insulting and transparent that is?

I feel badly for your situation. You didn't design this nightmare of a website, but are forced to not be able to say anything bad about it or your company - we all understand this. I hope you now understand us.

In response, I hear what you all are saying and have passed along all the feedback so that our people over here can work on making the site better for all of you. I apologize for not being able to personally address your feedback, but I took note of it and made sure to post instructions to those in the forum that were having problems. We realize this isn't Cool Running and we want it to be a place you enjoy and we will continue to work with the Cool Running community to improve. Cool Running was unable to handle the amount of people on the site which is where our merger came in and in the hopes that the community could remain and continue its activity on our larger server. Kickrunners.com is experiencing the problem Cool Running was on the verge of experiencing, which is a completely shut down server due to its capacity limits. There are people working day and night on this right now and I apologize for the canned response but I have heard a lot of feedback that my instructions helped numerous people with the questions they had and if it didn't most of them have privately messaged me or emailed customer support and are getting the help they need there. I can't change the site for you, but I can hear your feedback and pass it along so we can work on it. We want you to be happy and we will continue to work on this. Thank you for your feedback.
Sara

If this is really true, that Active out of the goodness of it's heart, took us in when we had no place to go, please tell me why there is suddenly a TWENTY DOLLAR charge for Coolrunnings popular couch-to 5k plan

Not to mention a 25 dollar charge for all of the other running plans that used to be FREE to EVERYONE!

Active is after our cash, no more, no less....

Thankfully I think there are enough versions of the couch-5k program out there you'll see little return on it.

Re: To "Active" Sara, from everyone here who is unhappy.

And if coolrunning.com was just limping along, why are people able to still log into it? Many have posted on how to still get into the old running log.

Why don't you just come out and state that people can still use that log?

Or it they can't, why do you let continue to be accessed?

This whole thing seems like a very poorly managed situation.

Please no more "we stepped in and saved the coolrunning community which was about to crash" messages..... acquiring coolrunning was a business decision - not an emotional rescue. If you really want to save this community (and a good portion of your investment) just add a link to the coolrunning log on your Announcement area.... you seem to have the hardware to run it (just shutdown Active Trainer - you can use that hardware).

Re: To "Active" Sara, from everyone here who is unhappy.
I hope the Active management team realizes that they lost the majority of the CoolRunning.com community by essentially hijacking the site to this mess and then by charging for workouts and training programs that used to be free.

This is a textbook marketing disaster. I started using the CoolRunning site to get back into shape and start running again. It had everything a new runner like myself needed: A simple layout where articles were linked together; a web portal that would allow me to customize my home page and present me with a workout; a runner's log that captured the essentials so I could track my progress; and a very simple and easy user experience. In the process of moving over to Active.com I have lost all of that. The layout here is terrible and not intuitive; I have no idea how to make the site present me with my workout on the front of the site when I go to www.active.com; the workouts that I was using for free now cost me ~$20 to use (incidentally, the link to the billing FAQ is broken and I have no idea how long I have access to the workout program...does it expire? if I encounter an injury can I stop the workout, rollback to an earlier date to recover? I never had to ask these questions before); and as I mentioned earlier, this site is extremely ineffective as a tool. I am certainly not interested in any of the additional features available here.

It's unfortunate that CoolRunning sold out. I'm sure the aforementioned poor marketing decisions weren't done with the customer in mind. More than likely, Active.com bought CoolRunning.com to remove the competition; to eliminate consumer choice for a low-cost and effective alternative.

I personally would like to know how to delete my account and remove all personal information from this site. I will not be returning.
