Happy Thanksgiving Boomers

I know it was mentioned in the thread today to post what we are thankful for. Of course we are all thankful for our health and the health of our loved ones. But I am thankful for the community we have here and the support we give each other on a daily basis. We know we can come here and post about our aches, pains, and training questions but it has become so much more then that, personal trials and health issues reaching beyond the torn hamstring or ITB problem. So tomorrow along with giving thanks for being with family I am going to think of what it means to me to have the friendship of the Coolrunning Boomer community. I love you guys.

Well said Barb. I too am thankful to be a part of this community. I believe the sincere care and concern we show each other really does make a difference. I know it does for me. I wish you all a happy and safe holiday.

Peace.

me too. well said.

As you might guess though, my special thanks are due you for dropping in on the B&B Board one Sunday afternoon in April and picking up on my message posted into the daily from a hastily-borrowed hotel computer that I was stranded in the lobby on the other side of the country without my misplaced cell phone. I don't know how you did it but, thanks to your extra efforts way beyond your posting and moderating, it was as good a sight as any finish line ever was when the local Boomer Rescue Crew arrived seconds, or so it seemed, later.

Yes, I am also one of those who are so thankful for my Boomerville family. Each one of you mean so much to me. You bring spice to my life and you inspire me to become a better person, a better friend and a better runner.

Thanks for being YOU!!!

You can't have our beer.

This Boomer forum helped me get a plan and motivation to finish my first marathon. That's minimal to what other support has been out there. Today, we're getting ready to have out last Thanksgiving dinner with Mom. And that's kewl. We've been hoping she'd be here for the birth of DD#1's baby. Her 1st great grand child. Maybe she'll be here for Christmas. Maybe not. She's here today and we're going to freaking celibrate.

Hally/Barb Could not have said it better. I often wonder if I'd even be running if it wasn't for the support, wisdom and companionship of this group. A couple of months ago my neighbor started running with me on occasion, before that time I was only running with all my Boomer friends. I also treasure each and every one of you and I'm Thankful to you all!!

I'd like to agree with everyone posting this morning. Although I'm a newbie to the B&B site, I'd like to thank everyone for their support and friendship. As I've gotten older, running is still a passion but the body parts don't always work the way I want them to. When I read about the strength and committment of all you other Boomers, it gives me motivation to keep on keeping on. Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving.

As a long timer on the CR site, over 3 years now, I just want to echo everyone's feelings. In my time of need you have been an inspiration and a amazing support group. I enjoy and look forward to returning the favor. For a group of people that I have never met (save a few) it's incredible how people can reach out and share and laugh in a way that makes the pain go away.

Sure running is the main focus of the site (it's what we love to do) but the gentler side of the site allows us to keep running and living in a healthier way

Barb, what a lovely post. I read it last night & smiled, but was too tired to respond. Now, I think I want to borrow Skip's post, word for word. Well, I probably wouldn't sign it "Skip". Throw in agreement with everybody else.
This really is an incredible group of people. Thanks to each one of you for all the caring & support & the time that it takes, as well as for the bits of yourselves that you're willing to share.

Good morning Boomers, Happy thanksgiving! Thanks Hally for the thoughtful and well said start. Very nice thread and thoughtful post by everyone else.

I joined the Boomers quite awhile back, had not to long prior to that sobered up and began trying to run again. It has played a role in my new life. I think everyones enthusiasm about our sport, trials, failures and successes has helped keep me motivated to continue to run and enjoy, slow but steady improvement. From running 3 minutes to a 28 mile long run, a personal best for me. It is easy for me to appreciate running as a part of my life, when I lost it for 6 years,

Thanks Boomers! Have a nice Thanksgiving and Good Runs All, Larry

May your day be full of Norman Rockwell moments with a splash of Clark Griswold just as a reminder that all families are not perfect, yet they're our families and we are grateful for them and love them.

God bless,

Rick

Ditto to how wonderful our Boomer Community is. You all have gotten me through several difficult times and continue to encourage and pray for me. I know the next couple of weeks will be stressful as I await the test and results...but you all are here for me when I need anything. You all mean so much to me and I'm looking forward to meeting more Boomers.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and don't gobble till you wobble!! I'm sure lots of us will be out this evening and early morning to "run/walk it off"!!
