Re: The transition from CR's viewpoint
my running logs just might be transferring at this very moment, so the hatred has abated enough for me to say: you're a classy guy, dave...classy guy. but i still miss my CR pages...

antag, do you ever get un-banned? or is this a perma-ban?

Your current user name has a much nicer ring to it anyway.

Re: The transition from CR's viewpoint

Dave,

Thanks for your post. It's refreshing to finally hear from someone in the company who thinks of us as customers or clients rather than as adversaries. Yes, we act like children in here sometimes, but that's more for our own entertainment -- our way of nurturing the relationships we've developed as the result of many hours spent "together" online. I've been on CR for about 2 years, and like everyone else I've had my life changed for the better, not only in my athletic pursuits but in my ability to critically examine my own thoughts, beliefs, and opinions, and in simply meeting a handful of the wonderful people that CoolRunning, and specifically the ClubHouse, attracted.

It was really, really hard to see all of that seemingly threatened by the move to Active. As you perhaps can appreciate, Active doesn't have the warmest reputation among some runners. Our gut reaction these last few days was really grief for a community that we were afraid we were losing. I hope that, with your continued presence in CoolRunning, we'll be proven wrong and this little corner of the internet will continue to play a part in our online lives.

Mike

actually, if i'm understanding the situation correctly, and the CH being rather of the 'eye for an eye' persuasion, we would have just given him a good a$$fcuking and gotten on with things without all this hullabaloo.

Re: The transition from CR's viewpoint

Ok, fine.

In replying to this thread I had to click on the "log in to reply button".

It took me to a log in page.

I logged in.

It took me to another page. Maybe the front page.

I had to click on "community"

Then click on "cool running communities" or some such button.

Then click on "clubhouse"

Then find this thread and click on it

Just to get back to where I was

Why couldn't it take me back to where I was when I clicked it in the first place?

And why do the ads slow down the page loading so much?

You have a running log here? Funny, none of the main pages have a button that says "running log".

And why did ACTIVE say the running log was being upgraded when in fact the new log sucks? And it sucks big time. I am approaching a PR for yearly mileage, and the new log cannot tell me what is my total mileage for the year (that I have been able to find). WTF? That is the most basic purpose of a log.

So far this transition is a debacle. The Active site is poorly organized and cluttered, not user friendly (I had to navigate through 4 pages to get back to where I was). Several other online running sites have seen a surge of interest, especially if they have a decent running log. A mass exodus is in the offing.

Plus the administrators seem aloof and uncaring.

This is the best that Active can do after 10 weeks of planning?

Uh oh.

I haven't even gotten to see my log yet. I was so wedded to it over at CR, but if it's gonna blow here . . . can you recommend other online logs that are decent, Mike? Are there any that allow data import? Sheeeet, just when I think I can deal with this place (and the ridiculous meandering required to get to the CH or find a training log page), I hear something else like this!

Re: The transition from CR's viewpoint
I am hanging on waiting for the Kickrunners log. The log here is awful. It is slow, cumbersome and counterintuitive. You have to pay $9.95 per month for shoe tracking (?!?). I can't find monthly or weekly or yearly totals either. It is bad. Anyway, if the Kickrunners log isn't available soon, I'm going to keep my log manually or will set up an excel spreadsheet. I know EQ has one of those. Perhaps he'd share it (?)

It isn't "just" a message board to us. I'm one to stick around, sure. And I'll do what I can as far as patience goes, too.

And your point is? Did you read her diatribe? How the CH has really been a substitute for real life? Come on. Even a moron like you would have to think that a bit unhealthy.
