This story actually happened about two weeks ago but there was a lion chasing cars on the road where I sometimes train. Story of the owner being charged:

I've been chased by a lot of dogs down here in southern Ohio but thankfully escaped the wrath of this lion.
The location of this incident is about five miles from my house.

........a Good Rule of Thumb----

--
As Long as you didn't get Eaten,,,,,,,,it'll make a Great Story Later,,,,,,,
Wow, rented mule, getting eaten by a lion could ruin your run. Glad you escaped this fate.
At first glance, I thought you were posting something about the Pro. He is loose in my area and lyin' is all he does.

Yeah, lion loose on the running route, I hate when that happens.
I can see it now. You come home from the run all tattered and torn...the wife, "Honey, how was your run?"
Seriously though, I'm glad you didn't make an encounter with the lion. It's tough enough out there on the streets.

oh no! i'm glad you missed it. it missed you. can't imagine (besides the danger aspect) how unreal it would have felt to have run across it.
give me a nice fluffy skunk any day.
btw, i had fun looking at maps. didn't know where Pike county was.. but I've spent a lot of time not far from there. i'm from Columbus, my mom grew up in Laurelville, I had friends that had a farm of sorts between Jackson & Oak Hill, & of course there's Hocking Hills. Sure is a pretty area.
A few years ago was an emu loose where I had run earlier in the day. It was moderatly agressive. I was really glad I didn't see it. I'm sure I would have checked myself in some where.

Ah, so that's what my relatives in Ohio are up to these days... making a ruckus and scaring the locals. Good job, guys! !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|border=0!
More seriously.... the way the owner kept the lion's cage, if I I were that lion, I'd run away too--sounds like someone who has no business even keeping a pet snail.
Also, glad no serious injuries resulted.
There were cougars sighted in the Philly area, even within city limits some years back. There were several sightings in and around the tri-state area, then nothing for many years afterward.

This is the exact reason why I always run where there are other slower runners around me.
And I also carry an extra pair of dry underpants.

I'm a Portsmouth native, now living in Columbus. I admit that I wasn't surprised that this happened in my old stompin' grounds... but was glad to hear that no lions or humans were harmed in the whole adventure.
Nice to know there are other CR's with southern Ohio connections.
A nice side story.....one of my relatives was telling at a recent family dinner how this same family had a pet bear about 10 years ago. They had the bear de-clawed, put a muzzle over its mouth and had friends over to take turns wrestling it just for entertainment. My relative said it was hilarious to watch but he was always afraid to give it a whirl.
Wow - that's something you don't hear every day!
This summer we took the kids to Arlington, Tx for a Rangers'/Cub's game (we're die hard Cubs fans). As I was getting ready to walk out the hotel door for my run, I hear enough of a news story to turn around and see what was up - there was an armed criminal in the neighborhood 1/2 mile from where we were, and the police were chasing him through backyards and such and I could hear the helicopter outside! I held off on the run until he was caught!!
