3000 yards in the pool today, with a long climb down the ladder of 500 (8:40), 400 (6:45), 300 (4:52), 200 (3:12), 100 (1:30), 50 (0:40). 100 EZ between reps. Tough workout, the kind I'll replace with a solid tempo run when I can get back up to speed on land.
Wildchild -- my 13-year-old daughter's been expressing interest in getting into running, or at least walking, on our treadmill, and so I know, it's a really good feeling! And yeah, you have to walk that fine line between being encouraging enough, but not too enthusiastic, or else you "foul" the coolness of them wanting to do something on their own. No run scheduled for me today, and it's just as well, because if there ever could be a sproinkless day, this would've been it. Even caught myself nodding off at the wheel coming back from my pilates session this afternoon, going at 55 on the highway! Not good at all...

12 miles at a pleasant cruising pace. Snow flurries, overcast, rhodendron leaves were curled and the cat didn't want to go out. Puddles on the ground didn't melt today.
I've had some symptoms of overwork for a couple days - scratchy throat, sleeping badly, among other things.
I intended to run 5 X 1 miles today. But mid-way through the first one it was apparent that though I might survive, I wasn't going to thrive. So I put the watch away and settled down for an enjoyable ramble.

I don't feel sproiky...or even sproinky. 6 miles (3 out and back and extremely windy...BOTH ways!) tried to make it a tempo @9:4x pace. McMillan sez I oughta be quite a bit faster....maybe it was the wind. I do think the effort was there and even though I'm not a HRM guy, it was about 160 when I finished up.

Took off work today at 3:15 and took the kids sledding. The snow will melt by Friday, and we don’t often have enough snow at a convenient time for me to take them, and by the time I have the time (like the weekend), it melts. DD’s favorite thing is “horsey” – where I lay on the boogie board on my stomach, and she “rides” down the hill on my back. Lots of glute work helping her and the sled back up the hill.

6 decidedly unsproinky miles on the treadmill tonight. I had to leave work early to take my boss to the airport (well, didn't Have to, but he did ask nicely) so missed my mid-afternoon snack and last 12 oz glass of water before I headed to the gym. I was hungry when I started, and I think a bit dry. Sure made a difference, if only mental. Also, depending on how I feel tomorrow, I might take Thursday off. I haven't missed a "scheduled" run (i.e., one I meant to do) in at least 6 months, so a measly 4 miler would be a good one to drop. I just feel tired these days!
