Re: Sunday December 9 Boomer Runs
Tramps, a good time on what sounds like a pretty tough course. Nice PR. Send in a buck.

Enke: GA stands for general aerobic. It is an easy run, not slow like a recovery run.

Kameele: Check out Daniels Running Formula, a great book in its own right, but he dedicates several pages to adjusting to altitude, how much time it takes, ways to adapt, etc. Very good source.

Lou, hope you are feeling up to speed soon.

I worked the White Rock Marathon ten mile water stop today and my job was to scream at people coming at me, "Water ahead on your right, followed by Gatorade." Great opportunity to see my local marathoning friends. Pfriese went by me and called out my name. I hadn't seen him because he had a hat on today.

I'll post a separate report on last night's wonderful dinner, but let me just say that Mrs. Ribs and I had a ball with our new friends. We already know Tim (wa5yom) and his lovely wife, but now know the Dromedaries, pfriese and his wife, and Henrun and Marj, all of them delightful. Henry just called me from DFW to tell me how he, Marj and Dromedary did in the half, but I will let them write their own RR's. Very interested to know how Paul (pfriese) did in the full marathon. I will say that at ten miles he was smiling and upbeat, but I figured that he is that way all the time. More to come. Spareribs

After reading Tramps' RR, I was going to use a beer bong as a training tool. Thanks for clearing that up later Tramps. Rest day today.

Re: Sunday December 9 Boomer Runs
Wasn't going to run today, but the weather was too nice not to. Just a quick 3.5 and the main streets were pretty clear of snow and ice. 21 degrees with no wind (but no sun) and some pentup energy to burn off after watching the Packers beat Oakland. Glad that Brett Favre disproved the Sports Illustrated curse this week.

Re: Sunday December 9 Boomer Runs
Just got back from the rec center - 5 miles on the indoor track. I went with my DD, who is on W2D1 of the C25K. She wasn't sure she wanted to be seen with me, but none of her friends were there so it was OK. We timed each other on sprinting one lap (100 meters) and she beat me. She got 18 seconds, and I got 21 sec. (But, hey, she's 14 and I'm 50, after all!) I sure hope she decides to stick with running!

Re: Sunday December 9 Boomer Runs
That's Claire? She's a beauty! Thanks for sharing Tomwhite!

15.25 miles today, 2 hrs 22 mins... that's gotta be the slowest run ever and one of the hardest runs I've done in a long time. Most of the route was on the bike paths, which just last week were hard packed and lovely for running, or they'd been plowed recently. Now they've got 4-5" of powdery fluffy snow, and the snowmachines have churned them up pretty bad. Felt like running in lumpy cornstarch, losing an inch or two with every push-off, especially on the hills. The fastest and easiest miles were the first two on our bike path (which some kind soul plows regularly) and the last 2 miles where I gave up on it entirely and ran in the road. Called DH at one point and arranged a pickup, but still made my goal of 15 miles. Glad that's over.

Now to go scrape up more gunk off the floors downstairs... New carpet tomorrow!

Oh she is so lovely!. Look at the pride in your eyes TomW.

Erika, you inspire me every time I read your posts. Way to tough it out girl. I would have given up by mile 5. Gook luck with working in the basement tonight. Do you have a nice bottle of merlot to keep you company?

Re: Sunday December 9 Boomer Runs
I decided to sweat out my cold by running in the pouring rain. I managed about 2 1/4 miles before giving up due to stomach problems.

The cold feels better though.

Re: Sunday December 9 Boomer Runs
Erika, you are one tough runner. You may be sore from that tomorrow!

Tomwhite, beautiful baby!

I opted not to run a Toys for Tots 5k today but went anyways to deliver my toy plus take some photos for the club newsletter. I'm glad I didn't participate as there were some ice patches on the trails that caused more than 1 runner to take a fall.

I did attend a 90 minute yoga class tonight. My expectations have really changed on what I expect from a yoga workout and tonight didn't quite measure up. But it's good to try new classes now and then.
