half marathons in July or August?

I'm looking for a half marathon for part of my training for the Chicago Marathon. Do you know of any half marathons in July or August? I've looked on the internet and can't seem to come up with anything.

I should have said - any marathons in close proximity to Florida. I'd rather not travel too far for a half. The Carolinas or Georgia would be okay. Any ideas?

I live in AL, so I can say there's not many, if any. Way too hot and muggy for it.

Lifeline looks good, not too far from Cleveland. I may run that.

August is a bad month to find long races unless you are willing to travel. Its too hot. You'll find a lot more options in September.

A days drive and you'll be in Virginia Beach for the RNR 1/2 on labor day weekend September 2.
!/2's and longer in the South are hard to find in the Summer heat.

It will still feel like the HHH of August, unfortunately. My sister ran the Va Beach half last year and said the ocean breeze saved her.

Any idea what the weather is like in VA in early September?

Mostly high 80's during the day and 60's at night. The humidity can be a HUGE factor that time of year. The RNR 1/2 starts at 7am so the heat mainly gets to the back of the packers, like me. The wind off the ocean is the big savior. It comes when you are on the boardwalk for the final miles. You also have the chance of a hurricane around that time frame too.
I have run the RNR 1/2 5 out of last 6 years and although the heat is there, it is not a huge factor to me. I just plan accordingly and drink lots of fluids.

Re: half marathons in July or August?
I have been running since 2002 and have run many races during that time. I LOVE the Rock & Roll 1/2 in VA Beach because of the crowd support, bands/cheer squads every mile, organization, etc. but I will NEVER, EVER, EVER run it again because the HEAT in VA Beach on Labor Day weekend (hint: hotels are HARD to find) is unbearable!

My 2 cents.
