Tahoe half marathon Sept 2007

I am arriving on Friday, and the event is Saturday. I won't have time to adjust to altitude or time, and plan to "just do it". Any advice, info, hotel suggestions (we will spend a full week- Friday to Friday- nothing else possible, datewise) would be great! Thanks!! I visited the area last May (was in Reno for the half marathon) and fell in love. Thanks!

I live at Tahoe so you know what I think about the area. I would do one of the Lake cruises(Breakfast, Day, or Dinner). Fun way to see the Lake and have a meal. Hike the Tahoe Rim Trail as it will be fall with all the color changes. Visit Camp Richardson(SE part of Lake) as the Salmon may be spawning which is always cool to see.

Staying at the Lake is expensive. South Lake offers more motels and chaepers options. I live at North Lake where less options and more costly. Squaw Valley is great to visit and stay also. Home of 1960(?) Winter Olympics.

More questions, let me know!

If I can swing it, I'd like to visit my brother who lives in SLT, and run the HM. I am a flatlander and I'll be running the NYC marathon in November. I desperately need the hill work that Tahoe would give me.
