South Mountain 10 Miler Bethlehem PA - Course Info?

I am thinking about this early November race. I know there is a big hill involved, but I can't seem to find a course map anywhere. There's just a one page application, or Active. No map or turn by turn description.

Anyone know if there is a course map online somewhere.

Hi MrPH. I do not know of a map, but have run parts of the course -- there are some serious hills. I have not run the actual race myself, but I know someone who has and I have trained on parts of the course with him. I can ask him for more details.

Also, have you come across this Race Report[/URL" target="_blank">? It seems to give a fairly good description of the hills...

Loopy,

Yes I have seen that link. That provided the best overview I could find. What I was trying to do was get something I could plug into gmaps in order to get an elevation profile. From what I gather it is an out and back that goes up the mountain and then back down. I'm just over the border in NJ and am somewhat familiar with that area.

I will probably end up running it, and if I can't find a map I'll go out conservatively and then see what I have once I get to the top of the mountain. I would only run it to keep my motivation up going into the cold season, so there wouldn't necessarily be a time goal.

I replied to the email I received and was sent a course map in pdf form. I will come up with a course map on gmaps and post a link here. I should be able to get it done tomorrow. It was nice to get a quick response from the organizers (LVRR).

Probably. I will know next week ..... I am running Steamtown this weekend and as long as I come out of that OK I will do it. I would think that 5 weeks should be plenty of time to recover and get a couple of long runs in.

Thanks. At least for Scranton the forecast is getting better. Cloudy with a high of 73. Not ideal, but tolerable. They were calling for 80's earlier in the week. I'd much prefer 40's.

Well I just entered today, so we'll see how it goes. Still a little sore in the quads from Steamtown but it's much better than a couple of days ago. I'm sure I'll be ready for this race.

I looked at last year's results and there were 183 runners. I like these small races ... should be nice.

Just saw this thread. I think I may try this. I was contemplating running another marathon this fall in Philly, but the friend I've gone with the past 2 years will be away in China this year, so, without a marathon to run, I'm thinking of turning my attention to some shorter distances to run.
