I'm in the same boat as you - no way can I complete a race that difficult either, but my schedule didn't work out for volunteering at the race itself (I did have fun doing some trail maintenance for the race a few weeks back.)

I'm definitely intending to volunteer at some of their races in May and June - I'll be in recharge mode then and it'll be a great way to keep in touch with the trail.

I'm planning on mostly walking and probably being DFL, but I really really want to finish!

I'm signed up for the marathon, so I'll be out there Sunday, perhaps for as long as many of the 50 milers! I'll be wearing blue butterfly gaiters and I'll let you know what else when I decide

Hey Addy - I hope you're recovering okay from the race, and congrats on finishing! Judging from the race results, it looked like a lot of you had to persevere quite a bit

muzicgrl- Thanks so much for volunteering!!! I was in the very back of the marathon pack but still headed out of rock city before you started. don't worry about the lack of a RR, I'll definitely be doing a nice an long report w/ pictures Unfortunately, I'm working on my honors thesis right now, and my next draft is due tomorrow, so I'm making myself wait on the report until I finish that.

But, I have so much to say! A short version is that it was absolutely amazing, I had one of the best experiences I could have hoped for, and am still all smiles about the experience. Everything was just great, even though it took over 9 hours . I can't wait to go back next year and be faster!

So...look for a real report in the next few days
