Mount Diablo Marathon & 50 Mile Endurance Run

Anyone planning on running this next weekend:

There is no way I can complete a race that difficult yet so I decided to volunteer at an aid station. Am I going to see any of you hard core trail runners out there?

Have a great time!I wish there were more ultras near me that i could volunteer. Most races i go to are hours away I do volunteer at road races with my running group. Just not the same as an ultra though!

Haha...we'll I'm not sure that there's any way I'll be able to complete a race that difficult...

But I'm going to try

I'm planning on mostly walking and probably being DFL, but I really really want to finish!

I'm signed up for the marathon, so I'll be out there Sunday, perhaps for as long as many of the 50 milers! I'll be wearing blue butterfly gaiters and I'll let you know what else when I decide

Check out my profile or blog (addygrl.blogspot.com) if you want to see a pic.

I'll see you there!

Everyone have a great 50 on that mountain.

Its tough I have failed to complete a 50k there(through PCTR RUN THEIR RUNS THEY ARE GREAT) and ended up missing our cut off for first loop, but did complete the 25kI was NOT prepared and that is why I didnt do what i wanted..I will be back to run a BETTER 25k and see if I can shave off time on that **** mountain. That run taught me alot about running and trail running in general..all for the better.
I will run that 50 miler next year.My first 50 miler is in November!!!

I know - I just heard the weather predictions myself. I'll be thinking cool thoughts for you on your race, Addy

Thanks! I think it's already working. The forcast is down to 77

I'm still pretty freaked out about this race, but super excited too!

On, and for anyone looking for me (muzicgrl and Katie I think are the only ones, working?) I'm wearing blue gaiters, a teal bandana, a white shirt and blue shorts. I shall be very colorful

Hey Addy - I hope you're recovering okay from the race, and congrats on finishing! Judging from the race results, it looked like a lot of you had to persevere quite a bit

Re: Mount Diablo Marathon & 50 Mile Endurance Run
muzicgrl- Thanks so much for volunteering!!! I was in the very back of the marathon pack but still headed out of rock city before you started. don't worry about the lack of a RR, I'll definitely be doing a nice an long report w/ pictures Unfortunately, I'm working on my honors thesis right now, and my next draft is due tomorrow, so I'm making myself wait on the report until I finish that.

But, I have so much to say! A short version is that it was absolutely amazing, I had one of the best experiences I could have hoped for, and am still all smiles about the experience. Everything was just great, even though it took over 9 hours . I can't wait to go back next year and be faster!

So...look for a real report in the next few days
