Re: Teton is on!
Finally back Home in NH... Loved people staring at my belt buckle the size of a dinner plate at the airports all day.

All in all I feel INCREDIBLE after the race and I'm gonna head out for a 5K shake out tomorrow. Some soreness and stiffness behind my left knee and bruised feet tis all I suffered.. NO BLISTERS!

Race report will be up tomorrow with pictures of course... and WHEN I return to this race FRED IS DEAD!

GREAT Job to Merigayle... she was SOLID from start to finish... simply amazing to watch as were those NY boys.

Pam Reed switched to the 50 the night before the race but opted out at the last minute....

Re: Teton is on!
Anthonyp's "super pacer" here. ;-) While I didn't race any of the Grand Teton Races this past weekend, I can report from the sidelines that they are great events. (Ok, so I guess I wasn't completely on the sidelines. I had the privilege of pacing Andy-Jones Wilkins, Anthony P, and "Al.") Not only do the RDs put on a great race, but the scenery, weather, and people are wonderful. In addition to some quality trail time with Tony, I got to see Merigayle run a solid race and have Sherpa John stay in my room in Jackson on Sunday.

Re: Teton is on!
Evening all...Just got back home from a day-long trip from the Tetons...amazing event.

Everyone was fantastic.

Merigayle was rock solid. Sherpa John was a trip. And, thanks to my new best friend and pacer, Trail Goat, I made it though.

Trail Goat and his buddy were really fantastic. These guys took a week off to travel the country and help pace at races. Goat paced the race winner for 30 miles, me for 20 miles, and yet another runner for 5 miles. I can't thank Trail Goat enough for getting me through the last 20 miles.

Great job to all !!

Re: Teton is on!
trail goat!!!! I had no idea it was you.
Ugh, when you guys caught me at the aid station, i was so hot and my sunburn was so painful. i thought to myself "maybe i can keep up with them" but no way! you guys smoked thru those last 11 miles!!! I got to the unmanned aid station on Mill Creek and had to take cover from the sun, every time i was not in the shade it hurt My last 5 miles were great though and my husband paced me thru that loop (he paced me on that Ricks Basin loop on lap three as well).

I started working on a race report on the plane, will try to type it up and finish it today.

Re: Teton is on!
Funny...Goat was my main man....when we caught up to you at the top of the road I was so psyched to see you, but Goat was like "in and out...get some food, get some gel, and start running !". He really pushed me through.

Just an amazing show of kindness.

One of the things I've learned about ultrarunning (and I'm only 2 years into it) is that the people are great, the friendships made are special, and the camaraderie among runners, elite and average is above and beyond anything I've ever seen.

After I finished I sat and watch and waited for Merigayle and others to finish and to cheer them on, and spent some time with Andy Jones-Wilkins. Andy and his family were right there supporting all of the runners, hours after his record setting performance.

Just a great event, and great people.

It was great watching all the coolrunners in the race. It felt like I knew ya'll and was cheering for my close friends-"hey! I know that guy!" Congratulations to you all. Are you pleased with your times?

Re: Teton is on!
thanks Greg.

I am happy with my time. i had no idea what to expect out there and when i got there earlier in the week and saw the first 6 miles of the race, i really did not think i could do more than one loop, let alone 4. I knew 36 hours as a time limit would help me, but in the middle of the night delirium, i thought i was going too slow and thought i was going to be pulled from the course. So, in the end, i was very happy to have finished 2 hours ahead of the cutoff! If i did not have a very very bad sunburn, i am sure i would have been a bit faster, but you cannot control those things. Also, seeing that about 25% of the people dropped out, made me feel super tough too

Re: Teton is on!
Thanks Greg. Like Merigayle, I'm psyched with my time considering how difficult this course was. Almost 5,000 feet of climb per loop for 4 loops was brutal.

Re: Teton is on!
I know for my training, the biggest hills i could find were 1.25 miles and 2 miles tall. That is NOTHING compared to 3 miles up a mountain at 25% grade and the Mill Creek section that was about 8 miles up hill. I had pounded out hours a week on the stair stepper, but it still was paltry compared to what i encountered in Wyoming!

If you look at the results, except for the #3 guy, mostly everyone was from out that way. Anthony and I were brave

Re: Teton is on!
Ahem.... I'm from the SEACOAST of New Hampshire Meri.. lol.. My training in the White Mountains of New Hampshire paid off as well as my running in Pittsfield...

I was disappointed with my tim (30:44) but then again I always am too had on myself. I wasted a butt load of time in aid stations... but then again I was only doing the race to hang out and enjoy myself. I pushed it when I needed too on day 2...

Gotta go back!
