Christmas Gift For Ultra/Trailrunner

So, I need to find a gift for my hubby. I've got a subscription to Trail Runner mag for him, and he's already got headlights, gaters, trail shoes, camelbaks, etc etc etc - there's not much he doesn't have. Any suggestions from experienced folk for another gift for him so I can at least have something for him on the day - magazine may not arrive in time.

Thanks

Fixing Your Feet book
How about the book Running through the wall?

zombierunner has a lot of neat little things you can use as stocking stuffers too!

The Runner dvd is good too.

That would cover 2-3 years worth of Christmas gifts for me.

more socks-we go through (literally) a lot of socks. Shorts, shirts, jackets, pants and hats to scare the competition by looking fast

Thanks for the replies

He's got running books coming out the kazoo. Will look into zombierunner stuff - will I find it just on a Google search?

Western States...hmmm. Yeah, but will need to save up for more than a couple of weeks - airfares from Aus aren't cheap.

Never thought of massage, that's a good idea. Like the suggestion of the socks too..

Yeah, zombierunner is a great site, thanks for the link. I've ordered some injinji socks, and I'll see what I can find as far as massage therapists locally.

Re: Christmas Gift For Ultra/Trailrunner
Every year I get my wife a runner's log book / calendar from Amazon, she's religious about writing down her mileage, how she felt, etc. I have one she got me about 10 years ago. Thankfully it is generic, no specific dates so I'm making it a resolution to use it this year! :-)

With massage sessions, what do I look for in a masseur? I've also heard that sports massage is quite hard, would that be harmful to tired muscles after a long run?

Got the injinji socks in the mail today, they're really nice and soft!! Not sure I can justify them for myself and my little 12km runs

Re: Christmas Gift For Ultra/Trailrunner
When I was young I hated to get socks and underware for Christmas.

Now they are exactly what I want!

Just make sure they are synthetic, not cotton, and up to the job for long runs.

Specifically, UnderArmour compression shorts (or comparable) are good for preventing chafing. And that makes for happy running!

Or, RaceReady shorts with the pockets in back might be a nice gift if he doesn't have them already.
