Is Galloway Productions going to participate?

The description under this forum reads:

"This is our only commercial forum moderated by CR and the staff from Jeff Galloway productions. Feel free to submit training related comments. The responses will probably be related to the products and services offered by Jeff Galloway productions."

While there has been some heated discussion on a number of the threads in this forum, there have also been some serious questions. To the best of my knowledge, no one from Galloway Productions has answered any questions.

What is the plan for someone associated with Galloway participating as mentioned in the forum description?

Big fat 1!!!!! That is exactly the question that I have too.

It's obvious to me that this new forum has morphed into exactly the debating battleground (please note that is by no means a comparison to the arena that our soldiers are now subjected to in Iraq or Afghanistan*) that I figured it would become.

It would be nice to see some discussion from the folks at GP so they could earn some of their money.

Or at least an appearance by a CR moderator not here to diss the area.

JMHO I think this whole forum is pointless anyway. The people that want to do it the Galloway way already have enough information that there isn't any need to clog up this site with commercial garbage. Ads are one thing...this is over the top.

I'm guessing they saw how things were going and decided to avoid this forum like the plague. There is nothing to gain by having someone from Galloway join in the fray. Maybe they will make an appearance once (and if) things settle down into a reasonable discussion.

Give them time. I'm sure Galloway Productions is aware as anyone else that the initial response from the morally indignant crowd would jump on here to foam at the mouth. I'm sure they are aware of the posts here and taking things into account. And I'm equally there will be responses from them. At the moment however, I think those of who support Galloway are doing a pretty good job responding to the naysayers. I like the forum and in time I think it will be no different than any other forum that people go to or avoid, depending on their view(s).

In other words, once the little punkass trolls who have no interest in using Galloway's method go find some other way to seek attention.

Regardless of whether the forum is "right" or not and whether or not it would serve a useful purpose ... it was laid out as being a forum for people to interact with Galloway productions ... right? I'm just curious why this hasn't happened.

As it stands now, the forum has become quite a negative environment.

Actually this forum is a commercial forum for Galloway products so I'm not so sure Galloway Productions is going to engage in the various comments other than what they are promoting. Looks like CR members are doing a pretty job of discussing the pros and cons themselves.

Besides, a number of people who don't like Galloway want only to argue and slander him, in which there is nothing to gain so I suspect they will stay clear of those types of posts. But they are letting everyone have their say.

Re: Is Galloway Productions going to participate?
Hi. I'm a moderator for the Galloway message boards. I have answered some of the questions but have gotten out of a few debates because they weren't positive and I felt some people just wanted to debate.

I'm the Program Director for the Nashville Galloway Program and have been for almost 2 years. I've been with the program for 5 years now.

If I can answer questions, I will.

Oh great, I'm glad you're here! Would you please address my concerns regarding the 10:1 or 5:1 run/walk strategy for the sub-3 marathon runner? You were the one who suggested the strategies, I posted my critique, and you've not replied yet. Thanks in advance. Just so you don't have to dig it up, here's my comments:

Suppose your fast walking pace is 12 minutes/mile and you're shooting for 3:00 (6:53 min mile) with a 5-1 strategy, as you suggest. To do this, you'll do 30 "reps" of 5 minutes run followed by 1 minute walk. (150 minutes running, 30 minutes walking)

distance = speed X time

26.2 miles = (150 min) V + (30 min) (1/12 miles/min)

Solving for V, we get V = 0.158 miles/min.

Inverting V to get pace: 1/0.158 = 6.33 min/mile which is a 6:20 pace, which, according to McMillan, is on the low end of your lactate threshold (tempo pace of 6:15-6:31 for a 3:00 marathoner) or the high end of your tempo interval pace (6:10-6:23).

So basically the marathon becomes a workout of 30x1200 tempo intervals with 1 minute very brisk recovery walk. Now maybe buried in the pages of one of Galloway's books is the magic formula for completing this workout. But for me anyway, 6x1200 tempo interval is a **** good workout, never mind 30x1200 with only 1 minute recovery!

So what do you think Sherri? My opinion is that run/walk is a horrible idea for a sub-3 marathon runner, but you disagree. Could you please address my concerns. Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am I'd like to know why.
