OK lets get this started!

First I want to thank the Admins at CR for giving us a 30 day trial to see if this section is warranted. So the only way to for this to work is for all of us Clydesdales and Athena's is to post and openly talk about things that we normally would not do so in other sections. So please start some topics about the difficulties or even why you find being a larger runner is better and lets make this section work. My email is gripperm@gmail.com and I will always be open for any questions.

Re: OK lets get this started!
My question is this: At 6'2 and 192, do I qualify to be on this forum? I think 192 is a bit heavy for a distance runner.

By weight you do not but you can feel free to post because at your height I am sure that you have some of the same issues that larger runners have.

Re: OK lets get this started!
Where do most people classify Clydesdales? I have seen races that had 3 different Clydesdale groups. I think some people classify 192 as a Clydesdale (though, a light one.) I am 6 foot and float between 192 and 202, - the last few years have been 196 to 202. I definitely feel I have more in common (as far as training and injury considerations) with a 260 + pound runner than I do the speedy, little 145 guys!

Re: OK lets get this started!
I am with PSO392, my weekly weights ranges between 193 & 196, I am 5'11. I feel much closer to this group than the others. I did see a race entry form that said for thier race, 192 and up was Clydesdale.

only my .02 worth.

I use Coolrunning for my training log and I've lurked here for years, but rarely posted. Now a forum for me! Yeah! I plan on becoming a regular poster. Thanks!

Re: OK lets get this started!
I'd like to welcome everyone aboard to the new forum. I'm a borderline Clydesdale and I think I stand to learn a lot from you. I admit that I will mostly lurk.

I think the most important thing to keep in mind here is to keep your eye on the prize and that being gaining and keeping a fit body. Keep the foot stomping contests to a minimum and I think the best way to handle a troll is to ignore them. It?s kind of like the story of getting in to a fight with a pig, the pig loves it and all you?re going to do is get dirty.

The highest mountain you will ever climb is the threshold. Again welcome.

Happy Trails,
Rob

Hi Rob - loved the pig analogy! In my family we have a skunk one - Don't get into a fight with a skunk, because even if you win you lose. Same idea - different critter! BTW - Lurk away!
