So, how so you...

So, how do you know if you're a Clydesdale or Athena? I know that height doesn't figure into it. But for the guys, is it 190, or 200. It would be nice to know if I am officially in this classification of honor or not.

Re: So, how so you...
The races around Oklahoma start the Clydesdale categories at 170...14 lb increments...up to 230 lb and beyond.

I think each race sets its own standards so for this area I try to justuse the word Large Runner

Re: So, how so you...
When I raced mt bikes they started the clydesdale at 200lbs. I thougth that was funny because a fella in good condition 6'4 could hit 200 easy! I was 250 at the time and in bad shape. I agree your a clydesdale if you think you are.

In the 2 HM I've entered, the weight for Athena was 160.

I registered for a sprint tri in RI, and Athena was 150. A Vermont Sprint Tri I looked into had Athena defined as 140.

So, there is no consensus on what an Athena is? At 145, I might be or I might not be?

There's no set guidelines for either Athena or Clydesdale class. Even the are many races with Clydesdale cut-off at 200lbs I will still consider myself in the category until I get under 190lbs.

Depending on the race it is usually either 140 and up or 150 and up

Re: So, how so you...
Depends on where you are

Most WI races are 200#

CARA - Chicago - Starts @ 190

USACFRF - 190-214, 215-225, 226+

Female - Lowest I have seen is 140

Some races have sub-categories for Open / Masters

For me - It is who I am - No matter how fast I get or little I weigh, I will always be a Clydesdale and not a Stallion.
