Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

good evening all and Happy New Year.  Got in 6.5 with DW this afternoon.  Looks like a ton of good runs today.

glueman - hopefully you get your run in.  The IPOD + system is what my DW uses.  She loves it and it is quite accurate.

stan - great goals, have a Happy New Year!

misswendy - great run today.  I'm glad you like your shoes.

Joe - I agree, we are here for support.  This is such a fun and supportive group.  It is nice to share ones experiences with others.  As a new runner (about a year) I have learned so much from all of you.  Not just equipment but trials and errors and little pointers that will help with my first HM in 2008.

deez4boyz - glad you are logging in again.  Sorry to hear about your fall.  take care.

Goals - #1 25 or more miles per week

#2 run a race with someone in this group and meet at the finish line.  It would be fun to congratulate that person and thank them for all their support.

#3 complete a HM in under 2 hours

Of course always be a better father and husband!!!!  Take care all.  Happy New Years!!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

hello. A couple of things happened in the saga of Chuck today. We had to put my sweet heart down today, her name was Bella, a 10 year old Masttiff 140 lb dog, she got where she could not walk good and was getting to where she was tring to jump on everything, very bad, in so much pain , we had to have her put down. She was a sweet heart.

Laurel;Happy new years to you and your family.  You have a very nice looking family.

Kevin, good job on the double didgets. It's an awesome feeling. I'm proud of you!

Monnik, welcome home! Holidays and training can be hard. Glad you're pain free!

Glue: The long runs are the important ones when training for a half. Try to make that one.

Stan, me and you have a goal together. I weigh close to 200 and want to be 175. Good luck to you.way to go on your milage total.

misswendy,Yes I did mention running in the new year but with the day I had decided to mix a few drinks and relax. It is an awesome thing to run in the new year tho. I'm 3 drinks down so I'd get arrested for rud, Running while drunk! The seaside race seems nice , check out the website and let me know what ya think.

JP, Ive been running sence 2003,ran track in HS and my son got me back into running in 2003. I think Joe said it best!!!! DIDDO!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

doggone it, just lost my whole post... my laptop is awfully touchy. Welcome back to those who were lost! Joe, do you have any way of contacting Megs (don't remember the numbers after her name)?

I finished the year with 3.7 miles this morning, though it was broken up by 20 minutes to drop my car off for servicing... I appreciated the mechanic getting it in, so couldn't really argue with when he wanted it!

JP, the relay sounds awesome! My DD#1 just got invited to participate in one in CA--199 miles through San Francisco and Napa, 12 people/team. She's pretty excited.

Meanwhile, DD#2 scored the best New Year's Eve plans of the family... going to a club where Peyton Manning and Danica Patrick are rumored to be having their private parties tonight. I asked her to get Peyton's autograph for me if she saw him, and if looks could kill, I'd be dead now   Rough night for the Colts last night, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Goals for 2008--

--continue running and increasing the mileage

--work on upper body strength & abs

--continue losing weight

--try to be a better wife/mom/friend/employee/person...

A Happy & HEALTHY 2008 to all!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

Chuck - you beat me to it!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Monnik - so glad to see you back! and great that you're able to run again - i'm not going to let you slip away that easily!

BTW - being new to iPods and over the age of 25, i'm finding this technology somewhat tricky! So - does anyone know how to get steve runner podcasts onto an iPod... from what I can see I need to get it into itunes (it's currently on my laptop), but I can't seem to do it. I can download from the itunes store, but that only has the latest one... Going back to trawling the help section to try to work it out as i'm hoping to get a short run in later before back to work tomorrow.

Good luck with all those goals

Cara

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!  Hope the hangovers aren't too bad.  I had me a little Tequila Rose last night.  Man that stuff is good.  No much of a hangover though, which is good.

MissWendy - Thanks for the compliment on the avatar.  Very nice.

Monnik - glad you are back.

Chuck - so sorry to hear about Bella.  Sending hugs your way.

Joe and Laurel - Man is it cold or what?  I hate cold.  It is supposed to be 28 in the morning.  Brrrrrrrrrr.

I am going to try and do a few miles today.  Just an easy one.

Everyone got their blackeyed peas and cabbage?  I guess this is a different tradition for everyone.  We eat blackeyed peas for good luck and cabbage for money.  Any other ones out there?

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

Hey Joe and Peg, thanks for the well wishes about my girl. She is better off, got so hard for her to get around.

2 more goals for 2008

1>quit drinking, tired of waking up not being able to run due to hangovers. A lot of people out running this morning and I'm curled up on the couch.

2> PR my mileage of the year, so that would be 850 for the year, I want 900. I only had 450 this year,

misswendy , how did your night go? Did you run? I wish I would of ran instead of drinking!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

Happy New Year All, another early run for me. 3.14 miles. 18 F outside but I stayed comfortable after I got going. That 10 minute warm up is a killer!

Chuck- maybe we can keep each other honest about our weight goals. Sorry to hear about Bella.

Good running all

Stan

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Dec 30th

Happy New Year, everyone!

Chuck, I must have been posting at the same time as you yesterday, because I missed the part about Bella--so sorry to hear that! It is really hard to see them suffer though, too. Hope you're doing okay.

We had a very tame/lame new year's eve. It started snowing around 5:00 and the friends who were going to come over decided they didn't want to be out on the roads... then around 9:45, that satellite dish we had so much trouble getting installed lost the signal--it appears snow will do that, who knew?! Neither of us were very keen on getting up on the roof in the dark in a snowstorm to brush it off, so we went to bed. And the group our daughter was with never made it to the club Peyton Manning was supposed to be at, so no sightings/autographs. A very disappointing evening

But the signal is back today, thankfullydon't know what DH would do without his bowl gamesand no hangovers, so I got 3 miles in, and quite a bit of wet snow shoveling for my upper body workout. We are supposed to get 3-5" more tonight with colder temps and wind--maybe the roads will drift shut tonight and I'll get an extra day off work? Not very likely.

Hope everyone's year is off to a great start!
