OK, so that is the beginning of a great smoothie. But to turbo charge, I get a coconut from the produce department, ole boy takes a machete to it, and I substitute the rice milk for fresh coconut milk. If it isn't too busy, I also have 'em scrape the coconut meat into the blender. Increased viscousity. Add hemp protein. VERY BOMB!
Fresh! Alledgedly, the freezing of fruit causes some of the fruit's cells to expand and burst, leaving less vitamins and anti-oxidants. Great book that touches on this subject, but is more focused on the pH of various foods is Alkalize or Die by Dr. Theodore A. Baroody. On page 34 he states regarding "_FRUITS_: Keep in mind the guidelines at the beginning of this chapter. Any process such as cooking, freezing, canning or preserving with sugars and chemicals, greatly reduces the alkaline / acid numerical values of fruits. This includes all jams, jellies, sulphured fruits and other processed fruit products." Then he lists all the fruits and assigns them pH values. Great reference book, but since I have endorsed it, I would like to make the disclaimer that some of his assertions are intergalactic planetary. haha. Like Chapter 20, page 109 he explains the acid / alkaline forming principles of sunlight and moonlight. He then goes on to suggest that Thyroid and Pituitary glands are benefitted from moonlight, as well as having an "...alkalizing and magnetic effect on the ovaries and uterus..." for women. Not saying he is wrong, and in a ying yang theory, the sun is to yang as the moon is to ying, but...
also, has anybody ever tried wheat grass juice with liquid ginseng? it makes cod liver oil taste like a spoon full of sugar. curious to learn if I am alone with the 2 oz shots of supercrunk. get my David Banner on. cheers!
My favorite smoothie comes from Rambler Room (or Simpson, I just never ate over there as much). It's called an Orange Sunrise and it's something along the lines of:
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 cup ice
I used to have that for lunch at least an hour before conditioning.
I was wondering whats up with the ice. Do you add it to decrease viscousity? I like my smoothies and milk shakes thick, so I leave the ice out. That is one reason why I can't really get down with Jamba Juice anymore; there is ice in like every drink. Super brain freeze. Thoughts?
