Good bye friends (that's not you, Dick)

Well, I've had it. It's apparent to me that my login issues and email notification issues are not going to be remedied anytime soon and that Dave doesn't really care about the people frequenting this site. I'm tired of the drama trying to log in. While I may stop by from time to time to check in, my days of frequenting coolrunning are over. The only active threads left here appear to be the religious threads in the Clubhouse.

I'll miss many of the posters here, which is why I'm sure I'll check back occasionally. I'll be on runningahead.com as spaniel.

Happy runnning,

Andy

Does this mean coolrunners are no longer invited to run speedwork sessions on your homemade backyard track? Oh well... :)

I don't know who you are. I don't care if you leave. Having said that, I have to say that as a professional web developer I am absolutely shocked that someone would opt to use this software. This is absolutely atrocious. Seriously, if this is free you have overpaid. I can't imagine what posessed the ownership of this site to go down this road. You could find eighth graders who could build a more efficient and user friendly forum.

I was pretty optimistic about this whole switch and more than patient with active. I never experienced log in issues but my email continues to get bombarded. It's starting to get annoying. Are you guys even working to solve these issues? I was giving you the benefit of the doubt for some time now but seriously my no college degree, computer illerate *** could have fixed these problems by now.

Re: Good bye friends (that's not you, Dick)
Andy,

You gave than adequate notice that you were dissatisfied, and I hope that when some of these bugs are fixed you'll be back. You have my respect for giving the site more than enough chances and not abandoning it at the first sign of trouble. I don't seem to be having the troubles that a lot of people are having or to the extent that they have. I considered leaving but decided that there were enough members on my particular thread -- 50+ -- that I'd stay even if I were the last one around.

I also greatly respect you for your insights over the years, and good luck in your running and on whatever sites you end up.

Re: Good bye friends (that's not you, Dick)

runnawayjesse,

This is what baffles me about this mess. You would think active.com would have the resources to fix these problems immediately. Runningahead.com is run by one guy in his spare time, yet he managed to import close to 1,000 (educated guess) training logs himself while dealing with bandwith issues due to the influx of former coolrunners. It makes me wonder if they bought the CR forums/logs as a strategy to eliminate CR. Something to think about....

Oh, BTW....sorry I called you a jacka$$ the other day.

Re: Good bye friends (that's not you, Dick)

Andy

I hope you are checking in from time to time. If you go to your Active account when you log on you can set your email preferences to send you a message when there is a reply to any thread you have posted on or to just a thread you have started or to receive no notification. You can also do that on the individual threads themselves. It seems to be working for me.

I hope some people come back. I don't want to go to multiple forums to find old friends.. Maybe not that the holidays are over fixes will happen more quickly. I haven't had any problems myself the last couple of days.

I did this yesterday. The e-mails have not stopped. Many others are having the same problem...

I'm sure we'll find you around. Most of us have migrated to the chrunners.net forum Sue and Mike B set up.

See ya!

Re: Good bye friends (that's not you, Dick)

I changed my preferences indicating that I didn't want any email. That doesn't work. I have already received 135 emails today. Some of them are for threads that I haven't opened. I tried deleting my account and there doesn't seem to be a way to do it. I changed my email address which requires you to open a new account, but I can still log into the original account. I looks like I have to go to every thread that I opened and click that I don't want email. Then I won't be back. What kind of idiot would have a site that would send people hundreds of emails daily.

Log in and open the threads to which you're getting email responses. On the left side, under ACTIONS, you will see a link that allows you to disable email notifications for that thread. Click the link and you won't get emails for that thread any longer.

To make sure you don't get responses for future threads that you participate in, change your profile settings accordingly. Keep in mind that changing your profile settings has no effect on threads you are already involved in.

I changed all of the settings and I am still getting emails. It's up to 172 now. It's not worth it.
