You miss the point entirely. It's incredibly limited in understanding to say that people are getting bitchy over something that is free. Runners tend to be rather meticulous in their logging and a great many of them had come to rely upon CR's log. CR did not develop and implement their log just for grins and giggles. They did it to drive traffic to their site and keep that traffic coming back. It worked. So now you have a large number of runners who had an expectation of being able to log on CR and those expectations were not only unmet, but their concerns were flat out ignored. CR created the expectation and then broke their end of the deal. Whether the runner's paid for use of the log is irrelevant. Nothing on the internet is free. To believe otherwise is just naive. These runners might not have paid for the log, but I can assure you that their usage of the log generated revenue for CR. So, if CR made money off of the log then it was not "free", now was it? What I don't get is how they can just shrug their shoulders. It's like McDonalds just ditching the "special sauce" on their Big Mac and when people complain they respond by talking about how great their new milkshakes are. It makes no sense.
First off, I like the fact that the filters did not catch bitchy. That's *******'. (just to see if that works.) And yes, there is much suckitude on this new site. I understand that someone pays for it, and I understand how it is paid for. Really, I do. I also understand that, "many...came to rely opon CR's log." I am simply making the claim that, in the end, people are responsible for keeping their own data. If they leave it up to someone else, then it is possible the other party will fail. Is that not so? So - you can leave, or stay, your choice. You don't pay directly for the service now, I presume. You are not under a contract to stay. Neither was CR under any contract to maintain, indefinitely, your log. (implied, perhaps, but this is not an actual breach of contract, in my opinion.) Thanks for the belittling lecture, I surely appreciate it. I started it, in a way, I admit.
So no, I do not miss the point entirely. I have an ancillary point that I think is germane. Runners "tend to be rather meticulous" - really? Really? I would not understand that, as I approach 20,000 miles in the last 5 years, logging every one of the runs. With time, distance, conditions, route, every interval time, every subjective observation, every tenth of a lb on the scale every day, on programs I developed myself, MYSELF - do you understand the depth of that mania!!!??? Don't talk to me about that c ra p. Yes, I understand it. I also understand that when you give up control of the data... well... you no longer have control of the data.
For the record, I have beefs with the new site, too. Namely, I remember my password, but Active can't seem to. Never had that problem anywhere else. I have to click "can't remember your password?" every time. Which rankles me, because yes, I can remember it. So they send me a new one. Which works well. For ONE da mn day. That sucks. "S U C K S" in case the **** **** filter **** and *** with *** while they ***** themselves.
