Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!

I had a great three mile run this morning. It was a brisk 28F, but it felt great since there wasn't very much wind. I tried out a new route and managed to keep my pace at around 11:30 the entire way. I haven't felt this good after a run in quite a while. I'm hoping to have a similar experience tomorrow!

Sorry to hear about your run, Doug. I hope you're able to get rested up and get back out there. I haven't had to run in slush and yuck yet; I've been pretty lucky. When it's been icy, I've worn the Get a Grip Pro ice cleats and they've worked very well.

Hope you're all having a good week, Long Haulers.

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!

Hey LHers,

I also just finished a 5k and feel pretty good. The first 7/10ths seemed tough. I couldn't get a good breathing tempo going.

I won't complain about the weather until summer. That is when us Floridians can b*tch!! ;)

It will be my last training 5k before this Saturday's race. I will do a 1.5 or so tomorrow night then rest Friday.

My time was 33:32. A little off my best time but still OK.

Have a good day!!

Kevin

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!
Kevin,

I know what you mean. We do not get the humidity but the heat can be pretty bad during the summer.

You know, I was involved with a tread on another forum here. I made a mention how I am tired of people who sign up and make their first or second post and all they are doing is complaining about how bad CR is. If these people feel it is so bad here then they should just leae and stop bothering the people here who are trying to use the forum. I feel if they were to leave to RA or KR for a short time they would be back. It is not the software that makes the forum but the community. Of course these same people attacked my response.

Do others feel the same as I do and are just tired of how on other forums here people just whine and complain and say over and over how they are going to leave? It is getting old. Active knows the issues people have but software development takes time. I trust they will fix the issues people have but we will have to wait a while.

Mike.

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!
I don't really bother to post in any of the other forums here anymore, especially threads where people are complaining. I have my own issues with the software used for this board but the sense of real community and encouragement trumps any kind of problem I have with the boards themselves. I tried a couple of other boards when this one was in transition and didn't find the same kind of vibe. I just wish some of the people who made the old CR what it was would come back.

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!

Wow, we're not posting all that often anymore.

I did another 3-mile-and-change run this morning, again changing up my route on the fly. It wasn't quite as good a run as yesterday's, but it was still excellent. It was a little more windy than it was yesterday, which detracted from the experience. Mostly it just felt good to get out there and do something!

Tomorrow's my last 3-mile run for the week, and Sunday's a 7-miler. As always, I'm a little nervous about the long run, but I'm looking forward to tackling it (then going off to grade stats homeworks).

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!
Don,

Maybe we are not posting because we are doing our miles :). Myself, work has been really busy and will be the rest of the week. I post when I can but I am afraid I need to slow down.

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!
Hey guys,

Since November every time I run I get some hamstring pain. I feels like normal muscle pain and the following day it feels better. This year I started running HHST which has me running three days straight. By my third day my legs a pretty sore. After a few days of rest the pain is subsided. Any idea what I am doing wrong here? I am stretching and walk before/after each run.

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!

Hello everyone, I'm still alive, just not kicking very hi. The weather has been nasty here all week, and I haven't felt like getting out and trying to run. I have gone to the gym and did some core exercises and worked on my arms and legs, but no cardio. Today I have just started feeling better, maybe tomorrow I will feel like getting out and running some.

I hope everyone stays healthy and enjoys their training.

Happy Running,

Frank N Mississippi

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!
How is everyone doing. I have been really busy at work and unable to post much but I have been putting in my miles. When you schedule your runs at 4:30AM you do not have much going on to get in the way. Anyways, though I am quiet I am still out there and hope everyone is doing fine.

Run well everyone...

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!

I ran 3 miles today with a friend, we ran at a new 1/2 mile track at a local Jr. College. The track is around a lake and is enjoyable to run there. This is my first run in over a week, it felt good to be running again.

I am looking at getting me a gps watch, I was waiting for Garmin to come out with the Forerunner 305 replacement. After reading everything I can about the Forerunner 405, I might order me the Forerunner 305. What are your thoughts???? Mike, I know you have been waiting to order the 405. What are your thoughts??

Happy Running,

Frank N Mississippi

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!
Frank,

Right now my thinking is I am to poor for a GPS watch :) however I did look into them and will get one this year. In order to make the 405 the size of a normal watch they took out these features:

* Routes
* Multi-sport (changes sport mode with a press of a button)
* Pace alert (triggers alarm if you vary from preset pace):
* Time/distance alert (triggers alarm when you reach goal):

I posted the question about this on the Basic forum and a lot of people said they do not use these functions on their 305 anyways. I really like the size of the 405 but the price is higher and I think once the 405 comes out Garmin might drop the price some more on the 305 since it would then be their old unit. I like the idea of the 405 having the wireless sync....... My thinking is I will go with the 405 because I can use a new sports watch anyways, my G-Shock is well over a decade old and shows it. Oh, the 305 does have a bigger display of that is important.

Re: The Long Haul - Still Running!!

Mike, I'm going to hold off a while longer before I decide which watch to buy. I have read the same things that they did not include on the new watch, never having one I don't know if we would even use those features. Maybe some on our group could chime in and let us know their thoughts. You will still have to hook the watch up to the computer to charge it, when needed. Garmin has a new site for the 50 to download to and the 405 will also be able to use this site, I don't know if the info will be any better than the old site.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend, it's suppose to rain here tomorrow.

Happy Running,

Frank N Mississippi
