Morning! No school or work for me today, but lots to do, including intervals on the indoor track at my gym and maybe some abs after that. I had trouble getting into Active too, this was the first time it's been such a hassle.
I made a Sweet Potato and Eggplant Curry yesterday, a very mild version since I am a spice wimp, but it's pretty good. Very different from my usual stuff, I will post the recipe in a minute. I also pulled out some leftover cooked pork from the freezer to throw together a pork, veggie, and mango stirfry.
Colleen - I've heard that race is tough, but it will be a fun way to do your long run! Shhhhh, I don't see any major storms in our forecast........
Bodacious - Hope you did get back into the kitchen to make your fun recipe. 6 miles and you were ready for more, that's awesome. I am much more like Melanie, and running in the AM just feels better, but a friend of mine is a nightowl like yourself. He thinks the only thing you should ever wake up for is golf! But it's just a matter of knowing your body rhythms.
Lily - I don't have kids, but am sure it's incredibly difficult when they're sick, and you're sick. What I find if I take a week off due to illness is that the first workout or two back might feel harder, and I take those easy. Then, I am back in the groove and it's like I never left. You're doing so great, give yourself a pat on the back for dealing wiht so much on so little sleep, and still wishing you could have gone for a run.
nosirrahm - glad you said hi! I added your race to our list, hope that's OK. Tell us about the R&R race, how was it?
thisyear - I did low carb for a time, and then I did modified carb (25g at meals, 10g at snacks). So my brain was wired that way for a bit. Core is definitely not low carb, it's good carbs. I admit, Core first appealed to me since I didn't think I would ever be able to count points. And as I got into Core in 2005, I was trying all kinds of new foods that I really liked. I think at first, I stayed away from fruit, and couscous, and other higher carb stuff, but now I am back to being balanced. And my brain seeks out Core foods, instead of low carb ones. But it took a while to make the shift. You're absolutely right that you need to figure out what works for your lifestyle, and what kind of eating makes you feel good. But I think Core is completely livable for the long haul - once you get into the groove of eating healthy unprocessed foods, you realize how great they taste. We are here to support you no matter what - so debate away.
melanie - how was the party yesterday?
OK, I am off to get moving today. Have a great day everyone!
