labral tear arthroscopy procedure

My 15 year olddaughter was having pain and the clicking in her right hip before she fell in a dive, belly down in volleyball then it turned into the tear in the labrum. If that's what it is, which I/the Dr. are pretty sure; then if they cant go in and fix the tear they will remove the labrum totally. I asked the doctor if that would cause problems later in life for her since that is leaving her ball and socket pretty much bone on bone and he said that's what they dont know because it is a new procedure. Has anyone out there had the labral lining in their hip removed? And should I get a second opinion?
