Jan 27, 2008 5:46 PMMe too!Okay, so I admit that I haven't read every single post on the old MCM board. However, I had the site bookmarked and have been visiting that site for the last 2 weeks or so just thinking that the MCM data center needs a new administrator. It only took me that long to click on the community link on the marathon website to get here Anyways, it's great to know that we're still together, vigorously posting and communicating. Now I realize that catching up to a 2-week active ( Hence I think I'll just give an update about me: I have been running somewhat decent the last few months after the MCM, and finally ran the Mumbai Marathon last Sunday (20th). For a country with 1.2 billion people who believe the only sport in the planet is Cricket, this marathon was a welcome change and better organized than I had anticipated. Although we got no t-shirts (the entry fee was about $5), there was plenty of volunteers, water, "energy" drink (which apparently was just water mixed with sugar and salt) and spectators. The course was pretty and flat, so no wonder the Kenyans had their sub 2:12 finishes. However, like any other public event in India, there's a lot more focus on the celebrities and media fanfare than the participants of the race itself. I finished better than I thought I would given the heat and humidity here (3:36:01). Anyways, it feels great to catch up with the board and friends. Happy running everyone! p.s - Hey Jerry, I'm a bit tempted to run the Shamrock full (I believe slots are still available), since I might be making a trip to US around then.
Welcome back HanHail!
It took me about a week to find this place too! Nice job on your marathon! I think Jerry and a few more are signed up for the half right now and is still on the fence to change to the full, but I'm registered for the full and your finishing time is pretty close to mine and hope to finish in the 3:15 range this time...so if you decide to sign up...I'll run with you a while! Charlie Hey folks - Thank you for your responses. It was nice to run in an unlikely place and weather. I think the recovery wasn't bad either. Charlie, great to know that you have signed up for the full at Shamrcok. I also have a 3:15 goal, but not sure if I'll be ready for that at Shamrock (speedwork sucks!). I was hoping to do that at the Pocono marathon in early May, where the course is quite fast. Either way, I'll certainly run with you at Shamrock as long as I could keep up. Karl, I do hope to be back for the MCM this year. Some day, I hope to get in the Runner's Club like Len. I have signed up for Disney next year though - would like to make it a family event - got the wife to sign up for the half. We'll see if she makes it - she doesn't run more than 2.5 miles at a stretch right now. Like most of us, she believes running 13.1 miles is insane and she'll be ecstatic if she does it. I'm sure once she does the half, she'll want to do a full and that'll be another learning experience for both her and me Hey, HanHail! Good to hear from you again. And so glad you're planning to be at MCM this year. Good luck to your wife on her training too. My husband just thinks I am a total fool for running more than 3 miles at a time. Constantly reminding me, That is NOT good for you, you know? Yeah, but it's an addiction now, so what are you going to do about it? I'm trying to talk him into a half, knowing that once he does one... the rest is history Awesome finish time on your marathon too! Wow! HanHail wrote:

Welcome back to the new and unimproved Active.com! What a great race! 3:36! I find myself getting slower, not faster and a 3:36 would make me believe Boston was an option! If you're in the area, you should run Shamrock! Absolutely. It seems like we're building quite a contingent. Although Charlie is the only one running the full as far as I know. On the upside, I don't think there will be a single game of cricket the entire weekend! HanHail wrote:
Dear Staving - No cookies yet 'coz we're still in a rental house. Hopefully in about a month, we'll move into our own and will start baking... which reminds me, I have to copy your recipe from the other board, in case the board itself disappears. Your vacation piggybank filled up yet? Vacation piggybank is woefully empty. And now they've talked me into running the Country Music 1/2 Marathon, so there goes another $90 plus lodging fees. |
