This thread is for people who want to continue on a training program and have some great support.  Absolutely anyone can join at any time.  Refer to the table for each week's schedule.

This is good to start a new thread, so we don't have to drift through so many pages.  Many we can start a new one monthly.  I did not get my run in today.  I was too busy making my darn sheep costume.  Ok, I guess I will have to repeat week 5 again.  That makes two times for 4 and two times for 5.  Maybe it will get warm out by the time I get to the long runs at week 10 - 12 that I sure don't want to do on an indoor track.  LOL   Have a good Sunday everyone.

Hey Everyone,

 

 

Today I finished week 4 and ran 4 miles. I did it!!! I was really concerned that I wouldn't be able to do it, just as I was at times when going through the C25K. I mapped out a new route and downloaded some new songs. Both seemed to help keep my mind off of how much further I had to go. I also took it real easy and enjoyed it. My time stunk (54:12) but I don't care because I finished it, had energy at the end and that's all I was hoping for! Thanks for all your support!

Way to go, Claire!  That was my strategy for today too, new songs, map out the route, slow it down and try to enjoy it and it went fine.  It was particularly sweet given I had some bad runs earlier in the week and was having a real "crisis of faith".  The weather is beautiful here, can't imagine what it's going to be like later in the week when I head to Chicago!

Well I did my 3 miles today, caughing a little and nose running just a little. I had to stop halfway through the run to blow my nose(indoor track). Afterwards I am sneezing and my nose is running badly. My body handled it pretty well, although I cut my same toe with my toenail again, I guess I will have to really watch that, but I did not know that I had cut it until after the run when I saw the blood on my sock. I dropped back to week three, but I think maybe I will pretend I just finished week 5 and start 6 on tuesday.  Maybe not, it is hard to say. Bitter cold outside today.

Hi Claire, Woodwoman and Fistogmag,  Good job on all your runs.   Fistomag, I hope you get over your cold.  That sure does make it miserable to run.  BTW,  I always carry kleenex and blow on the run.  LOL.  Claire,  It is surprising as always how we can do those runs. Good job on the new longest run.  Woodwoman,   Good job to you too.  I am glad that you made it through your crisis of faith.

 

 

I did not get in all my runs this week.  I did the 3 miles today for Week 5 but missed the extra 2 miles.  I only got in 3 runs and a walk this week.  Therefore , I will repeat Week 5.  I sure hope that I can get in all my runs.  It might be tricky though, since I am leaving for Tampa and Wed and will be skating a lot on Fri - Sunday. If not, I might just have to repeat week 5 one more time. If I keep this up, it will be spring.  I can't wait for warmer weather.

 

 

If I don't get on here anymore this week, please know that I am thinking of all of you.

Hello all,

 

 

It's been a long time since I posted. I was barely able to keep up with reading the thread. 2 weeks ago I was so busy that I only was able to get 2 runs in and they were both 2 milers. So I decided to reattempt week 5. I was able to do week 5, although Sunday's 3 miler was very difficult. This week will be week 6.

 

 

Michael I'm struggling with Plantar fasciitis myself. I have orthotic inserts for my shoes, but I still have a nagging pain where my arch meets my heel on my left foot. I try to stretch my calves as much as possible as that is the best thing for pf.

 

 

Oh Raeskates I studied French in college and am fairly fluent. I need to practice it more.

Hi all,

 

I had a wonderful weekend. My wife and I got out of Los Angeles and went out to the Mojave Desert for a retreat. I did pack my shoes and did have an opportunity for a run. I usually run in the city and all of my runs are from stoplight to stoplight and most of my time is spent looking for cars or buildings. This was the first time I was in nature running and it was truly wonderful. As someone living in a city I am truly jealous of people that can run down a country road and enjoy what nature has to offer. If some of my east coast runner friends have never been in the desert it does have a beauty of it's own. I ended up running 4.5 miles in a little under an hour. I was surprised how much difference altitude makes. I usually run at about 300ft, this weekend I ran at 3900ft. I had to increase the amount I breath to compensate for the lack of oxygen.

 

Patty - My PF seems to get better and then worse. Right now it is under control but last week it really bothered me after my run. I went to a sports injury doctor a while ago and he felt I did not need orthotics since my feet are not flat. He had me pick up a good gel insert and that seems to work for me.

Hi Mike,

 

 

Sounds like a lovely weekend.  I live just outside Philly and I run at my gym or on neighborhood streets. Occasionally I run at a State Park and that's a nice run. As far as my pf, I don't have flat feet, just the opposite. I have very high arches. My podiatrist said that was putting a strain on my calves and causing the pf.

A dessert run sound so cool.  I was supposed to fly to LA today - but it got cancelled.  After being there last week I can't say I'm sorry not to be back there - nothing wrong with LA - just a long trip from Chicago.

 

 

Finished week 5 and beginning week 6.  Another week of treadmill running coming up.  I am so done with winter it isn't even funny.  My new Cannondale road bike came yesterday -- so now besides wanting to run outside I want to get out and pedal.  I know, learn some patience.

Mike - I would love to run in the desert...

 

 

I started week 5 today with a 2 mile run - it was cold (19 degrees) but the run went pretty well. I am still on a high after completing Sundays 4 miles.

 

 

slmoes - your new road bike sounds like fun, I can't wait for spring either.

Hi Everyone,

 

Went on an easy 2 miles today. I am back running in the city and back into my routine. Not much to report, just putting in my miles. Hope everyone has a great run this week. This is an easy week for me since my long run is only 3 miles but the following week puts me at the 5 mile point. I used to run when I was younger and I mapped out how far I used to run, It came out to 4.5 miles. This means the 5 miles will be the longest I have ever run.

Hello all,

 

 

Claire that was a cold run, I'm not sure I could have done that.

 

 

Mike that bike being delivered was just a spring tease.

 

 

I ran 2.5 miles this morning. For some reason I thought week 6 started with 2.5 miles. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get throught the week just fine. It was a fast run, at least fast for me lately, at 30:25. I'm sure tomorrow's 3 miles will be slower.
