Mean posts

Has anyone else stumbled into other "active.com" forums by accident? I did and couldn't believe some of the nasty exchanges I was reading between members. I mean, seriously! I can't say I read every word of every post on the "old" boards, but I don't recall anyone on "our" MCM forum getting down & dirty, name calling and all that- with the possible exception of some friendly football rivalries (you know who you are!) & competition to be in the top 10 (you know who you are, again... !) :)

I guess I'm hoping things will stay that way. This group has a great resource & source of inspiration & encouragement.

Have a good weekend everyone & happy running!

Susan

I have seen some things that were marginal, mostly coming over from th CoolRunning forums. This included one person who got banned by Active. Did you notice which forums you were in?

That's because we're runners and runners are happy people. Plus we're adults and know there's no need for that, sometimes you just have to agree to disagree. Have a great weekend and happy running. :D

Well I for one won't let anyone bully someone else and I don't think too many others here will either. I'm sure we would say soemthing to the offender and if the offender is really bad, I would gladly delete their posts and point them out to Active. LOL

Likewise for me, and I feel sure Sara would agree. We may goof around a lot but none of us will put up with any real BS.

Hi Susan,

Yeah, I've seen the same type of rudeness in other running forums and just say to myself "okay, this isn't for me" and leave. Oh well, to each their own I guess.

Just curious, I noticed you went CityGirl when FarmGirl wasn't available. Are you a farm girl living in a city or a city girl living on a farm? (Too many Green Acres episodes as a kid may be fueling my interest in this.)

Susan... you're right in that's it's unfortunate that adults can be so cruel to each other. You're also right in that this board is really fun and supportive and I'm thrilled to be associated with the people on it. I'm happy that I don't see this board turning south any time soon and that we'll continue to provide each other with support- personal and running. Speaking of the kindness of others, it made me think of this:

Board rules:

1. All posts must be nice

2. All threads must be hijacked :)

My two rules:

1. No hatin' on people. If you can't play nicely, get out of the sandbox.
2. There will be cookies whenever possible.

FarmGirl08 wrote:I'm not sure where I ended up- I've found that if you click on that left hand column, that says something like "more on this topic" you can end up anywhere. The particular section I was referencing was discussing the Ipod "controversy", but I can't tell you where it was. Maybe there's a thread about that. I tried to "back out" as soon as possible. :)

There is a major thread on the ipod issue (94 pages). Toby started it and Dave Vause was doing his best to moderate it. This particular issue for some reason gets rather heated. I personally take a live and let live attitude.

A couple of "elitists" also showed up on that thread (one in particular). Another issue that generates a lot of heat.

Re: Mean posts

If you go to "Browse Community" and select "Running" you will get a list of recent discussions. Just a few down is "The ipod controversy brews in racing". That is probably the one you meant since it shows up sometimes in the "More like this" listings.
