Re: Sprint/Oly/HIM Trainers, Dec 17

Sad to say, I just this week learned what a Wii is. I'm living in such a cave these days....

Skipped my pool workout this morning ~ I have no excuse other than the fact that I just didn't feel like getting my bum out of bed and going out in the cold and heading to the pool at 5:30am. Some days are like that :p Tomorrow I will hit the elliptical again, hopefully get a solid hour in. Not ready to tackle a 20 some degree run just yet.

Alicia - I hope you have a great time in Italy! How long are you going to be away? Sounds like a nice ‘crosstraining' trip to me ;)

Joe - sorry to hear about the knee injury, that really blows! Are you able to swim or anything? Take it slow with whatever you do, you'll come back stronger for it!

Tamster and Carrie - I'm glad to see you guys are feeling better. Tis the season for all the sick gunk...I'm currently a fan of Airborne as I think it kept a couple recent colds at bay. Not sure if it's a placebo effect, but I'll take it anyway!

Chris - Wow! Sounds like you have a good race plan started for this year already. I have some idea of what I want to do, but I almost don't dare to put it in writing just yet ...

Brix - sadly, I seem to have gotten too old for running with the hangover; it just doesn't work anymore! Good for you for getting out there!

Heather - You're doing the Austin half, yes? Did Kelly ever decide if she was doing that? I wonder where she is lately...?

Have a great day all - hopefully I'll start posting more actively on this new forum, but I'm still trying to used to it!
Heidi

Hey guys!

Popping in here to let you know that I got an e-mail from Kelli this morning. She's currently "Lost in Transition" but pretty busy as usual. She plans on moving her logs to Running Ahead but I sent off the links to this forum and let her know we missed her.

Re: Sprint/Oly/HIM Trainers, Dec 17

Thanks for the update on Kelli, Hobey.

I had a nice run this morning. Only the second one this week but starting to sleep better and as a result feeling much better. Like everyone else, I'm sure, I've just been really busy with getting ready for the Christmas holiday and getting ready to take some time off work. I love how you always have to pay for that on both ends!

I'm trying to get used to these forums, but man, it seems so slow and cumbersome. Wish I had more time to play around here! Have a great day everyone.

Re: Sprint/Oly/HIM Trainers, Dec 17

O.K. I finally found you! I just haven't had time to navigate the site, so I e-mailed Hobey to just send me the link. I wasn't able to logon a couple days ago, so I gave up. I've been SUPER busy this week with cleaning, baking, send Christmas cards, kids parties, and the list goes on and on. We are leaving town tomorrow!

Let's see. I was last on here right after my 5K, right? I never even got to read any comments on my RR. Oh well. DS went to the ER that day with a sinus infection and double ear infection. DH and I were at the doctor the following Wednesday with sinus infections/brochitis. Then, I took DDs to the doctor on Friday, and they both had sinus infections, and one had an ear infection and the other had pink eye! We finally finished all the medicine this week, so we should be healthy for Christmas!

I was supposed to run 12 miles on Saturday, but I only did 8. My friend nor I either one felt great. Then, I woke up Monday morning with my knee killing me. I could hardly walk. I could tell it was just a pinched nerve, but boy did it hurt! It has gotten better slowly. I ran 3 miles on Tuesday pushing the jogger, but I don't know when I'll run next. I hope to run 12 miles in the next few days. Then, we start interval training on Dec. 30.

Anyway. I'm glad I found everyone. I'm not going to use active for my log, though. It is terrible, and it doesn't sound like they are going to fix it really fast. It seems like they should have looked at the coolrunning log to see what features is had before they transitioned over. DUH! I mean, you can't edit a run? How stupid is that? DH has already imported his data into running ahead, so I plan to do the same. He says their log is so much better. I have to import mine, plus DDs. I haven't checked it out yet, but I will.

I really have to go because it is late. Hobey can tell you how late I was up last night (I think I e-mailed her at 1:45, but I wasn't in bed until 2:30). I'm off to bed now. The laundry can wait -- I need sleep!

Oh, whoever asked if I was doing the Austin HM. Yes. I have always planned to do it. Heather is doing it as well. I hope we get to meet. If anyone else wants to do it, it is still open! It is an aweomse race (hilly, but fun!) I'll be back, but it might be a while. If anyone needs to contact me, my e-mail is kelliAThugheshouseDOTnet. Merry Christmas everyone!!

Kelli

A couple of good runs this week and a nice swim last night. ALL easily posted on Running Ahead. I can't take this junk much longer. It's just so cumbersome and frustrating.

I read all your posts though cause I can't just walk away! :(

20 easy miles on the bike today after 32 hilly miles on the bike yesterday.
Glad to see so many people here, even though the boards are difficult to deal with.

Re: Sprint/Oly/HIM Trainers, Dec 17
Hi all - hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday for themselves!

The knees are slowly improving (yeah, Chris - what is it with off-season stuff causing injuries?) but now I've got a raging cold or flu thing hitting me. It was a shame too - I had my first swim in ages (actually, not since my first triathlon) and while the endurance wasn't there, my form was good and I didn't really have to think about breathing bilaterally. Makes me want to really get going on that part of the repertoire going into the new year.

Kelli - good seeing you!

Chris - I find I don't need much sleep either these days. It's rare when I go past 8 hours sleep-wise. It's great that you're feeling this strong too as you're getting through the off-season - looks like you'll have some great results coming your way.

Catch you folks later...hope some of you have more vacation days coming your way (unlike me, unless I decide to call in sick tomorrow.)

Re: Sprint/Oly/HIM Trainers, Dec 17

Hi everyone! Do we not have a new thread for the new year? Hope everyone had a great Christmas, looks like there aren't any posts here since christmas, am I missing something?? I got lots of cool bike stuff, a GC to road runner sports and the triathlete's training bible for christmas- now I really have no excuses!!

Thanks for the tip Chris, this is working much better!:D

Joe-- so sorry about the knee, hope it's getting better fast! That's definitely a pet peeve of mine, when people just jam up like that and no one can move...ugh oh wow, and now you have a cold? yuck! hopefully that's gone by now too!

Kelli-- I will send you an email so hopefully we can meet up in Austin

Carrie-- I have to agree, this is frustrating, mostly just because it's different and I"m not used to it. Hopefully I'll get used to it soon.

Heidi-- yes, Kelli and I are both doing the Austin HM. I'm getting alternately excited and nervous about it and it's still 6 weeks away! and DH wants to go stand in line this weekend to try and get a wii, friends of ours have one, they really are a lot of fun. We'll see if he can get one...

I did spin class this morning and ran 4mi on the TM at lunch time, it's really cold in my office had to run just to warm up!
