C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

Okay ladies and gentlemen, here is the new thread. I wanted to go ahead and post it today instead of tomorrow, cause who knows what I'll be doing then!

I didn't get to run my W1D3 run due to being in the bed sick, didn't have the flu but had a severe cold/sore throat.

I'll continue with W2 on Monday!

Happy Running

Roxanna

hey all! i'm new to this thread and am actually starting w3d1 on monday, but i couldn't find any other groups that were gonna be in week 3 starting on 2/25. i love your group name, by the way! i recently graduated from college and am looking to go to medical school in fall '09. also, i eventually want to go into the military, so i need to lose weight and get into shape in order to accomplish that goal. i'll be looking forward to hearing from all of you about your w2 experiences!! you can do it!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

Happy Sunday everyone! Finished W1D3 yesterday, wasn't too bad. Little worried about starting W2, but at the end of the running segmets for the D3 run I felt like I could have kept going, so I guess that's a good sign. I am planning to start W2D1 tomorrow. I may try to jump on the elliptical today for a while to try to loosen up the leg muscles.

Roxanna -- sorry to hear you have been feeling under the weather. That cold/flu has been going around here, too. Seems to have affected everyone recently. Hope you are feeling back to normal very soon!

Keep running.....good luck to everyone as we start W2!!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~
It was a lot warmer today as we ran - I think it was in the 80s F... Suprisingly that didn't seem to make too much of a difference. This was W2D1 (we're running Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday), and I was a little nervous starting the new week. Day 1 of W1 just leveled me out - it took all of my energy, and I was REALLY sore the next day. Today was definitely tough, but not nearly as hard as that first day. The funny thing was I didn't have to look down at my wristwatch to know that I'd been jogging for longer than 60 seconds - everything would be going along fine, then I'd suddenly feel that pinch in my lungs and my legs would start burning - I'd look down, and the timer would be at about 65 seconds... so only those last thirty seconds really felt like a lot of work today. The walking sections went MUCH faster as well... :) The encouraging thing is that I saw such rapid improvement last week, I know this week will be the same. Good luck everyone, and keep it up!!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

I can't believe it - I just was looking at the schedule again, and today we did 90 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking - it was supposed to be two minutes of walking!!! So we got an extra run cycle in there, and not as much breath in between. Tuesday will feel like a breeze!

So a note to all of you - 90 seconds of running, 120 seconds of walking. :)

Hi Everyone!

I was MIA at the end of the week due to sick kiddos. Not fun! I managed to get my runs in and am feeling pretty good about it! Onto Week 2!

I hope everyone is doing well and I love the new name!

Later!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

I'm just waiting for my shoes to come in, and then I'm set for starting this week. Really looking forward to getting out for my first run. I'll also be following the C25K programme, and hope to stay motivated enough to finish it, and continue running for enjoyment and fitness.

I've been telling myself I was going to start running and losing weight for a while, but a few days ago I decided, after reading through many sites, that I was going to start. Can't wait to see the pounds shed, and my performance increase.

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

I am soooo jealous of the 80 degree weather, Chipsndip! It is snowing again here...maybe another 4-6 inches overnight. At this rate we'll be completely done with the program before I can get outside for a run! I think this is the worst winter in like 10 years. We're headed for the in-laws in St. Louis this weekend and its supposed to be in the 50s, so maybe I'll get to complete my day 3 run outside. I also know exactly what you're talking about at the end of the 60 sec mark...especially those last two intervals! I'm just looking forward to D3 when I can really feel the progress.

Talk to you after D2!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

Hello all~

W2D1 is in the books. I would have checked in last night when I finished but there was an issue with the website...did anyone else run into this?

I'm afraid I may have overdone my time on the elliptical this morning. Maybe I'm not in the shape I thought I was in. I also did a lot of time on my arms w/ weights...Tomorrow will tell!

Rox - I'm just curious how long you spend on the elliptical? And weights? I know noone is the same, I guess I'm just nosy.

Like the previous poster, I am quite jealous of everyone who gets to run outside! I am stuck on the treadmill for now but hopefully soon I'll be outside!

Good luck this week!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

Well the 80 degree weather didn't last... not as cold as some of you, but the wind was blowing tonight and the temp was closer to 50. I really prefer it a little cooler - I'm like a furnace after running.

All I can say about today is that I got it done. The effort required wasn't that bad, but everything was working against me. The kids didn't want to sit still in the jogging stroller. We started out a little later than planned, and it was getting dark quick. We weren't wearing any reflective clothing or LED flashers, so I was stressing about being seen and staying safe - it's not a busy road, but enough. Finally, in the dusk it was getting hard to see my watch, and when I hit the "light" button it killed what was left of the battery, and the watch went dead. We used our non-stopwatch watch, but it made it much more tough. At the end of the run I was ready to quit. Bleh. Everybody has their days, right??

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~
hey all...i did get my w3d1 run in yesterday, and plan on doing w3d2 tomorrow after work. it felt much harder than w2 runs, but my heart rate stayed lower than normal, so i'm guessing my "fatigue" was mostly mental. i'd love to get up and get in the habit of running before work, but have such a hard time dragging myself out of bed. great job with all those d1 runs...keep up the good work!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

Chipsndip - Sorry to hear conditions were less than ideal...definitely sounds like the mental part would've been the toughest challenge on that one.

Just finished D2 myself and once again it is getting a bit easier as I go along. Looking forward to D3 when I am feeling like a champ again at the end of the run segment. We'll be out of town, so will either be running outside or bugging my sister in law to use her treadmill for 1/2 hour. I'm hoping to be outside, but won't really be able to judge my speed or distance, but I guess that's not too important at this stage of the game.

Talk to you after D3!

Re: C25K ~~ Couch Kickers~~

Hi guys! I didn't realize this thread had started but I'm glad I found it earlier this morning. It motivated me to finally get out there again. I skipped W1D3 last week and hadn't been out yet for W2, but did W2D1 tonight. Man! Conditions were less than ideal as there was still a lot of ice and some snow on the path so I had to be careful, but ended up only slipping a bit while walking. The jogs weren't too bad at the beginning but got harder, but it still felt good and not painful.

Any advice on back pain? I'm guessing it's just because of bad posture (slouching), maybe I just need to pay more attention to that and stretch a bit better before (and after)?

Keep up the good work everyone! I'm glad we're all kicking the couch ;)
