HEY *JOE*! Yes, it's me...LAUREL! I forgot about the crazy name I set up with the other account a while back (was my "original" active.com name prior to the coolrunning merger. One day, I will certainly live up to the name!! :D

(For those of you that missed the conversation last p.m. on last week's thread, I still can't log in under my "normal" account as (LSpence) - so, now I'm using a different account...)

Hey there, KEVIN, SPICEGEEK, & ANDAHUFF!

BTW, ANDAHUFF, we're only a few wks. apart. LOL about the 80s flashback. We were SO crazy back then, weren't we?!?

WELCOME all of you NEW FOLKS - is fabulous to have you joining us - we enjoy supporting each other through the ups and downs of training & our efforts toward a healthy lifestyle.

Happy Sunday, ALL!!!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th

Wow, congrats to Wendy!

The weather over here is looking pretty miserable (windy, overcast and threatening some very cold rain). I'm only running 3 miles today though, so I hopefully I can squeeze that in before the rain hits! How's everyone else looking for today?

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th
hi all great day here, low 30's and sunny. Icy patches but great day for a run. I did 13.12 miles at 8:53 pace. I was doing great until I hit too many hills during miles 9-11.

toshi - great tips for running. Hope your trail run went good.

kevee - I needed that day off. I really need to take one day off a week. Your post made me look at my schedule and that is when I realized where I was and Knew I better take a day off. Today was great. Hope your run goes well.

laurel - way to get in with a new name. That is dedication. You will do the new name proud!

andahuff - good luck with the 7 miler. Don't remind me of getting old.

spicegeek -lol on the EC. It is definitely working for you!!! I agree with you motto.

krugg - hopefully you get your run in.

joe - I count my tenths as well, they are hard to come by at my age.

misswendy - congrats! You should be done by now.

take care all

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th

Happy Sunday everyone and thanks for all the sweet greeetings last week! Yes, getting over the nerve rerouting and the compartment syndrome has been a disaster but I went and did my first "long" run in a year this afternoon. I only ran 4 miles and my avg pace was 12:24 but the foot didn't go numb and the calf was okay...... so I think I am back on track and hoping for the best for the Nashville half. I don't need to finish quickly- I just need to finish.

The weird thing is that it was awesome to be back out running but it was SO hard.... I am hoping that it comes back quickly. I can't believe how out of shape you can get! It was also 60 degrees and this was my first outdoor run in probably a year- i have been hanging out with the treadmill the last couple of months.

I hope everyone had a happy running day! Just wanted to share my "success"

Catherine

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th

Did a 60 min video this morning.
Looks like MissWendy did an awesome job on her half. Can't wait to hear about it and see some pics.

krugg--hope you got your run in before it rained, it was snowing here this morning
runj--that is a great time, I can't hold that kind of speed for more then a 5k or so. Great job

spicegeek, enjoy your rest day, after 3 weeks you deserve it.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th

Joe - hope your long run went well

cara - great job on the 12 miler. Your half should be no problem

krugg & anney - welcome

runjr - GREAT LONG RUN

toshi - that trail run through the Redwoods looks like fun. I'm not sure if that is the race I read about. Oh well.

spicegeek - I'm glad for race was not cancelled. Hope you enjoy your rest day!

cadio - glad your first run went well. Build slowly.

My long run was pushed from Saturday (work got in the way). I put in my longest run to day late this am. I was planning on 10, but the "just one more mile" chant rang out in my head. The windless 33 degree morning allowed me to put in just over 11 miles in 1:32. That distance really zapped me, but I was so happy to know that 13.1 is well with reach. My goal of sub 2 hour time looks to be attainable also.

I am now fealing the effects of a 30 mile week. My knees are a little sore and I must have strained my right calf. Oddly enough the bursitis that flared up in my left hip this summer, does'nt bother me.

Good running to all, Jeff

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th

Anney-welcome! Im so happy to have you here. I am impressed with your determination to get out there after baby. Do you take baby in a jogger with you or do you go it alone? If I could wish one thing for all new mommies it would be that they make and demand the time for themselves to exercise. It is so easy to get busy with babies and to forego that time. So, kudos to you! On your knees...usually a little work on leg extensions or squats will help you strengthen your quads and even out the balance in your muscles.

Krugg-hi and welcome! Glad you are here.

Runjr-So glad that you took a day of rest! Im SO looking forward to mine tomorrow!

Toshi- You crack me up on the Spicegeek shout-out!

Wendy- AWESOME girl! Hurry up and give us a report!

Jeff-fabulous run today!

I got my 7 miles in today in 1:08:21. Don't ask me why it was so off-pace. I guess Im still feeling the speedwork pains of Friday. Of course, I waited till late in the afternoon and it was HOT (72) and WINDY. Enough excuses. At least I did it, huh?

Can't wait till my FIRST-EVER 10K this Saturday.

For all I forgot, forgive me. Im slowly becoming part of the couch!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th
Hi all,
Congrats to Wendy! If that is her time, she did great!
Did 7 outside today. The first 2 felt like I was on a glacier - a 2 inch one! Once I got out of my subdivision, I was able to take my yak trax off and actually run. I wish I could do 7 miles in a little over an hour - it took me almost 1 1/2 hours! But it felt good to get outside in the sun. We have another winter storm heading our way tomorrow - freezing rain followed by 5-8 inches of snow!
Andahuff, I would be dying running in 80 degrees right now! I unzipped my jacket for the last few miles - but my feet were pretty cold and wet when I got home.
Sheila, what videos do you like to do? I did 60 min. of turbo jam (kick boxing) on Friday - I love that series!
Joe, hope you enjoy your days off.
Kevin and Run Jr., get those snow blowers and shovels out!
Laurel - RED HOT MAMA~ We'll have to remember that one, LOL! Glad you could log in.
Take care all,
Mary

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Feb 24th
hi all checking in. couple of messy days coming up this week where it could be snow, ice or a combination.

spicegeek - enjoy your rest day.

cadico - great run today. Just take your time getting there with the miles.

jeff - how many miles were you logging before this week.? Take a rest day you have earned it. Fantastic run.

andahuff - enjoy your day off. You will do great on your 10k! I think I will take the 32 degrees today over the 80..?? Maybe not.

mary - We finally get outside in this state and now more snow. The most difficult part of my run today was when you hit a street with ice. Good run today.

back to shoveling tomorrow, I will get my cross training in.
